With the Japan Mobility Show 2025 kicking off today, we have a major announcement on our hands from Honda. At the show, Honda is showcasing the 0 Alpha Concept, which will be its first fully-electric model for India. Here is all you need to know about the 0 Alpha Concept:
For the exterior design, Honda has adopted a ‘thin’ design approach, which maintains a low overall height for better aerodynamics while also keeping the SUV-like tall ground clearance for practicality.
Just like Honda’s other global EVs, like the Honda E, it features a sleek and squared-off design all around. At the front, it gets a screen encompassing the headlamps, charging lid and the illuminated ‘Honda’ logo. Below it is thick cladding on the bumper with silver inserts to give it a more conventional look.

Moving on to the side profile, it gets a unique sloping roofline and a sharply curving windowline, which reminds us of older Hondas like the CR-X. You also get a flat bonnet and aero-inserts for the alloy wheels, along with a black roof insert and flush door handles, all of which give it a futuristic look.

At the rear, it gets a rectangular windshield surrounded by a black insert and U-shaped LED lighting strips on the edges, which function as the taillamps, brake lights, and reverse lamps. Just like the front, you also get a tough-looking bumper with silver inserts at the rear end.
Honda has not revealed the interior or the feature list of the 0 Alpha Concept yet, although it is safe to assume that it will carry over the minimalistic and sleek theme from the exterior. It could borrow many elements from the Honda E, too, which could include wooden inserts and multiple screens inside. The equipment list could also include many futuristic features and new technologies for a better in-cabin experience.
The production version of the 0 Alpha Concept will be an electric-only model. While details on the powertrain are sparse, we know that it will be front-wheel driven. It could also be offered with multiple battery sizes and power outputs.
Notably, the 0 Alpha Concept is based on a new EV platform, and the production version will carry the same ‘skateboard’ architecture for better packaging, cabin space and efficiency.

While Honda had previously planned to introduce an EV based on the Honda Elevate, the carmaker has now confirmed that this plan has been shelved in favour of the 0 Alpha Concept, which will sit in the Compact SUV space. However, the carmaker has revealed that it plans to bring the 0 Alpha Concept to Indian shores in H1 2027. The SUV will be made in India and also exported globally.

In terms of pricing, it is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 20 to Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom) and will rival other fully electric compact SUVs in the market, such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, BYD Atto 3, the upcoming Tata Sierra EV, and the Mahindra BE6.
While still some time away, the 0 Alpha Concept gives us a good insight into the Japanese carmaker’s future plans in India, where it has suffered from declining sales for a while now. It will be interesting to see how this fully-electric Compact SUV plays out for Honda, given the competition which is heating up fast.
