Hyundai India has confirmed in an earnings report that the Creta EV will be introduced in the market by the end of FY 2025 (by March 2025). Earlier, the Korean marque said it will be starting production of its first mass market EV by end-2024 and will be launching it in early-2025. And with the Creta EV’s timeline now being confirmed, it's highly likely this will be Hyundai’s first EV for the masses on our shores.
Along with this announcement, Hyundai has said it will be launching three more electric vehicles on our shores. But what these cars are and when they will be introduced is something that is yet to be determined. That said, we do have a handful of details of the Creta and you can scroll down to read more about it.
While the Creta EV looks similar to the ICE model available currently, based on spy shots, the Korean marque has made a handful of changes to give it some sort of differentiation. That includes a set of aero-specific alloys, blanked-off grille and probably, tweaked bumpers.

Earlier spy shots have given us a sneak peek into the cabin and we can confirm there are minor changes. For starters, it will get a new three-spoke steering wheel and a steering column mounted gear lever. The dual integrated 10.25-inch screens from the standard Creta have been retained.

In terms of features, one can expect all the equipment to be retained from the ICE model, including the above mentioned screens, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, a Bose sound system, ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat and keyless entry with push button start.

Safety kit should consist of six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control and ADAS.
Technical specifications of the Creta EV are yet to be divulged. But one can expect multiple motor and battery pack options with claimed range exceeding the 400km mark. Plus, Kia and Hyundai have tied up with Exide for locally manufacturing EV batteries. So it’s likely the Creta EV could get a locally manufactured battery pack for aggressive pricing.

One can expect the Hyundai Creta EV to be priced from around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). This puts it in contention with the MG ZS EV as well the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX and Tata Curvv EV.
