  • Hyundai Creta EV likely to be unveiled in 2025.
  • Production of Hyundai’s first locally manufactured EV to start by end-2024.
  • Creta EV to boast slightly altered design touches to stand apart from ICE model.
  • Prices are likely to start around the Rs 20 lakh mark (ex-showroom).

A press release from Hyundai India states that it plans to start production of its first locally produced electric vehicle before the end of 2024. And the same model is expected to be unveiled in 2025. Considering that the Hyundai Creta EV has been spotted on test in India multiple times, it’s highly likely that this could be the model Hyundai is referring to.

Hyundai Creta EV Front

The Creta EV has been spotted multiple times, giving us a clear look at its design. The electric SUV is likely to get slightly different styling touches to set it apart from the ICE-powered model. That includes a closed-off front, aero-style alloys, and possible tweaks to the bumper design as well.

Hyundai Creta Interior

Recent spy images have given us a glimpse of its interior as well, which gets some minor changes such as a new three-spoke steering wheel with the 'Hyundai' logo in Morse code and a steering column-mounted gear selector. The dual integrated displays found in the current ICE-powered model have been retained.

In terms of features, the Hyundai Creta EV is expected to have all the features the ICE model offers such as a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and a Bose sound system. Passenger safety should be taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and ADAS.

Hyundai Creta Side Profile

It’s still too early to talk about technical specifications, but one can expect the Creta EV to have multiple motor and battery pack options with range exceeding the 400km mark. Also, Hyundai and Kia had earlier said they will partner up with Exide batteries to produce locally manufactured batteries for more competitive prices. So it’s highly likely that the Creta EV could get a locally manufactured battery pack to keep costs in check.

Hyundai Creta Rear End

The Hyundai Creta EV is likely to be priced from around the Rs 20 lakh mark (ex-showroom). This puts it in contention with models such as the MG ZS EV as well as upcoming Tata Curvv EV and Maruti Suzuki eVX.
