After the launch of the new Seltos, Kia India has shifted its focus on the upcoming Sonet facelift, which has been spotted multiple times on our shores. The Korean marque is expected to introduce the updated sub-4 metre SUV in early 2024. Ahead of its launch, spy shots of its interior have surfaced online for the first time.

The facelifted Sonet’s overall dashboard layout is the same as the current model, with a floating infotainment touchscreen infotainment system. However, there are minor changes we can discern, such as a revised control panel for the climate control. Also, we can see the presence of a semi-digital instrument cluster, while you also get a new black/tan colour scheme for the cabin.

Apart from the instrument cluster, we suspect the sub-4 metre SUV to get a 360-degree camera and the partial ADAS suite that was recently introduced in the Venue.
Bits such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, sunroof, wireless phone charger, a Bose sound system, ventilated front seats and cruise control should be carried forward. As for its safety, its list should continue with six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system and electronic stability control.

The spy video also gave us a clear look at the exterior design updates. It will get a sleeker set of LED headlights that flank a grille, which now features revised inserts. In profile, the model will roll on a new set of alloys. However, it’s the rear-end where changes will be massive, courtesy of the new tail lamps design, expected to be connected with an illuminated strip, similar to the Seltos.

No changes are expected to be made here. Currently, the Sonet gets a choice of either a 120PS 1-litre turbo-petrol, 116PS 1.5-litre diesel and 83PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engines. For a more detailed look into its specifications, check out the table below:

We suspect the updated Sonet to command a minor premium over the current model, which is priced from Rs 7.79 lakh (ex-showroom). It will renew its rivalry with the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and Nissan Magnite.
