Left foot on the clutch, right foot on the gas… 3, 2, 1 and go! The Tata Curvv T-GDI gets off the line enthusiastically with some wheelspin. Once it manages to put its power down properly, the numbers on the digital driver’s display climb up quickly and the Curvv manages to hit 100 kmph in 10.96 seconds. Not bad for a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine!

Even roll-on acceleration numbers are commendable, with the Curvv doing the 30 to 80 kmph sprint in third gear in 7.08 seconds. The 40 to 100 kmph run in fourth gear is dispatched in 11.8 seconds.

In the real-world, when you’re not out scavenging for 0-100 kmph times, the Tata Curvv T-GDI offers more than enough power for both city and highway usage. Throttle response and power delivery is smooth and even noise levels inside the cabin are acceptable. However, the chink in the armour is the clutch’s sharp biting point, where one can tend to easily stall while getting off the line.
