Known for its quick handling dynamics and rev-happy engine, the TVS Apache is one fun-to-ride motorcycle in its class. To ward off competition created by the likes of Yamaha FZ series, TVS has given a boost to its now aging motorcycle by introducing a limited edition matte black body coloured TVS Apache RTR 180. The new matte black colour compliments the faux carbon-fibre highlights of the bike, adding to the bike’s appeal.
By this new matte black special edition of TVS Apache RTR 180, the company celebrates the latest sequel of the X-Men movie series. However, the upgrade is just superficial and mechanically there are no changes. The bikes still sports a 177.4cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor capable of producing 17.5PS of peak power and 15.5Nm of maximum torque.

The new colour could also be the build-up for the launch of the all-new TVS Apache 2015, which is rumoured to be the company’s first quarter-litre offering in India. The new Apache could be powered by a similar engine, which was shown on the TVS Draken concept shown during the 2014 Auto Expo.
The concept bike came with a 250cc, liquid-cooled engine which promised to churn out a stunning 39PS peak power at 12,000rpm and 23Nm maximum torque at 9,500rpm. But in the TVS Apache 2015, the 250cc engine could be detuned slightly to improve fuel efficiency and linear power delivery for ease of use. The new TVS Apache is expected to be launched early next year.
