The past week was more hectic than we imagined it would be, partly down to the Mercedes-Benz EQ brand launch, Jeep Compass diesel automatic launch and a slew of updates and announcements from Tata! We also got updates from Kia and MG regarding their latest offerings, the Carnival and ZS EV. With Auto Expo 2020 around the corner, there were some developments from that direction also.
Mercedes-Benz India Goes Green
Mercedes-Benz has launched its electric EQ brand in India and showcased the EQC which is slated for a launch in April 2020. Powered by twin electric motors, the electric SUV develops 408PS and 760Nm and draws power from an 80kWh battery pack. Mercedes claims a range of around 470km. Jeep Drives In BS6 Diesel-Automatic Compass
The Jeep Compass is now more affordable with two new automatic variants: Longitude and Limited Plus. These variants are Rs 4.84 lakh and Rs 1.81 lakh cheaper than the Trailhawk.It uses the same BS6-compliant 2.0-litre Multijet diesel mated to a 9-speed automatic as the range-topping Trailhawk. Bookings are underway at all Jeep dealerships across the country.
Everything You Need To Know About The Kia Carnival
Right ahead of its launch at the upcoming Auto Expo, Kia has revealed all the information about the Carnival except for the price. There will be three variants on offer: Premium, Prestige and Limousine in versatile 7/8/9 seater options. Kia has done its homework and is offering a 2.2-litre diesel engine capable of 200PS and 440Nm of twist! There are various other tricks up its sleeve which you can read here.
MG ZS EV Launch Date Revealed
MG’s second offering for India, the ZS EV, is all set to be launched on January 27. You can get the ZS EV in two variants: Excite and Exclusive. The electric SUV is good enough for 143PS/353Nm of torque from an electric motor that draws power from an IP67-rated 44.5kWh battery pack. MG claims it’ll do an impressive 340km in one full charge.
Tata Decided To Surprise Us
Tata has pretty much dominated the news this week with a host of announcements. Starting things off is the Altroz which scored 5 out of 5 stars in the Euro NCAP crash test. In other news, Tata teased the upcoming facelifted Nexon, Tiago and Tigor, and has also commenced bookings for the same. It doesn't end there as we found out when Tata is planning to launch the facelifted Nexon. Oh and we almost missed that we got more deets on the facelifted Nexon and the much-awaited Nexon EV.
Auto Expo Updates:
This week, Skoda’s Karoq and Renault’s upcoming Brezza-rivalling HBC made their spy shot debuts ahead of Auto Expo unveil. If you’re interested we also compiled a list of the top 5 concepts and SUVs that are headed for the Expo. And finishing off things was the Tata Gravitas test mule with individual captain seats.
