Tata has finally launched its first sub-4m SUV in India. Prices for the Nexon start from Rs 5.85 lakh and go up to Rs 9.45 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. It is available in five trim levels - XE, XM, XT and XZ+ and XZ+ dual tone - with both the petrol and the diesel engine. It gets a lot of attractive goodies both inside and out, and is powered by a set of powerful engines. We have driven the Tata Nexon and you can check out the first drive review here. Now let's have a look at the variant wise pricing.
| Variant | Petrol | Diesel |
| XE | Rs 5.85 Lakh | Rs 6.85 Lakh |
| XM | Rs 6.5 Lakh | Rs 7.4 Lakh |
| XT | Rs 7.3 Lakh | Rs 8.15 Lakh |
| XZ+ | Rs 8.5 Lakh | Rs 9.3 Lakh |
| XZ+ (Dual Tone) | Rs 8.6 Lakh | Rs 9.45 Lakh |
When you first look at it, it's hard to say that the SUV is shorter than 4 metres. It looks nothing like its rivals, thanks to a European flair to the design. The Nexon’s sloping roofline and the rising shoulder line give it a very sporty stance, while the muscular look upfront gives it a commanding presence on the road. In terms of exterior features, it gets big 215 section 16-inch alloy wheels, projector headlamps, daytime running lamps, dual-tone colours, LED tail lamps and white accents around the car.

Inside, you get a Harman-powered ConnectNext infotainment system with a 6.5-inch floating touchscreen with Android Auto, automatic climate control and steering-mounted controls for audio and calls. In terms of safety, you get dual airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts and anti-lock brakes with EBD right from the base variant, while the higher variants add Park Assist with camera and sensors, day/night IRVM, fog lamps and a rear defogger.

The Nexon can be availed either with a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol or a 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel, both of which are turbocharged. The petrol mill puts out 110PS/170Nm, while the diesel motor churns out 110PS/260Nm. Both engines come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Nexon also gets segment-first multiple driving modes - City, Eco, and Sport -, which are considerably different in terms of power delivery.

The sub-compact SUV space is already crowded with established rivals like the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra TUV3OO and NuvoSport, Ford EcoSport and the Honda WR-V. The Nexon has a tough competition, but both in terms of its looks and engines, it looks prepared to give a tough fight. Check out what each variant of the Nexon has on offer in the link below.
