In addition to personal subscriptions, MG is also offering shared subscription plans

  • The ZS EV can be bought via MG’s subscription plan.

  • Only the Excite variant is offered in the plan.

  • The plan has a minimum duration of two years.

  • The starting price of the plan is Rs 52,833 for 5 years.

You can now buy the MG ZS EV outright, or through MG’s new subscription plan in India. It’s the second electric vehicle to be offered with subscription plans after the Nexon EV. The plan can be availed for a minimum duration of two years, going all the way up to five years. The plan begins from Rs 52,833 per month, with only the base-spec Excite variant that costs Rs 20.88 lakh (ex-showroom) if bought outright. In addition to its personal subscription plan, MG is also offering a shared subscription plan, but more on that later.

As mentioned above the minimum time duration of two years has the most expensive per-month subscription price of Rs 62,549. The monthly price reduces as the number of months in the plan increases, but we feel it’s still way too expensive. The Tata Nexon EV offers a maximum subscription plan of 36 months but at Rs 29,500. That’s a difference of over Rs 23,000. This could be due to the fact that the Nexon EV is also significantly cheaper than the ZS EV.

The ZS EV is a long-range EV with a 44.5kWh battery pack that offers an ARAI-claimed range of 340km. The electric motor produces 143PS and 353Nm and can go from 0-100kmph in 8.5 seconds. The fast charger can charge a dead battery up to 80 percent in 50 minutes.

In addition to personal subscription plans, there is also the option of shared subscriptions: when you are not using your subscribed car, you can share it with other “renters” by listing it on Zoomcar via MG’s subscription management website. MG claims that savings of up to 70 per cent can be made on subscriptions depending on how much the car is shared.

MG’s sole EV offering is priced from Rs 20.88 lakh to Rs 23.58 lakh (ex-showroom). Its only direct rival in the country is the Hyundai Kona Electric.
