Rajeev Chaba has hinted at an updated battery for the 2021 ZS EV.
Expect some feature additions, including an updated version of i-Smart connected car technology.
Expect the 2021 ZS EV to retail at a premium over its predecessor that’s priced from Rs 20.88 lakh to Rs 23.58 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Hyundai Kona Electric is the sole rival of the MG ZS EV.
Morris Garages has had a busy start to 2021, with the launch of the Hector facelift and the 7-seater Hector Plus. And now, the carmaker is set to launch the upgraded ZS electric SUV on February 8.

What’s new in the ZS EV? Managing Director of MG Motor India Rajeev Chaba has hinted at an updated battery. Currently, the ZS EV utilises a 44.5kWh battery pack that gives juice to the 143PS/353Nm electric motor. This translates to a claimed range of 340km. A DC fast charger charges the electric SUV from 0-80 percent in 50 minutes. A normal 7.4kWh wall box charger does the same in 6 to 8 hours.

While cosmetic updates seem unlikely, expect some additional features in the 2021 version, including an updated i-Smart connected technology with Hinglish commands and probably a 360 degree camera . Currently, the ZS EV offers an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-pane sunroof, 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, a PM2.5 air filter, and rain-sensing front wipers. Safety features include six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, and ESP.

The electric SUV is offered in two variants: Excite and Exclusive. While it currently retails from Rs 20.88 lakh to Rs 23.58 lakh (ex-showroom), expect the 2021 upgrades to make it dearer. The ZS EV will continue to rival the Hyundai Kona Electric.
