Dealers have started accepting bookings for a token amount of Rs 11,000 to Rs 21,000

  • The Aura will be sold alongside the Xcent but gets a host of premium equipment.
  • It will be powered by three BS6 engines and takes design cues from the Grand i10 Nios hatchback.
  • It’s likely to be priced at a premium over the Xcent (Rs 5.81 to 8.75 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi).
  • It will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, and Tata Tigor.

Just a few days after Hyundai revealed the new Aura, our sources have now revealed that the sedan will launch on January 21. Bookings have also commenced for a token amount ranging from Rs 11,000 to Rs 21,000. Prices for the sedan will only be revealed once it launches in India. It will be powered by three BS6 compliant engines as well as pack a variety of premium features.

The main talking point about the Aura’s design is that it takes plenty of bits from the Grand i10 Nios such as the cascading front grille, projector headlamps, as well as its boomerang-shaped LED DRLs. The grille does differ slightly with the lower portion extending towards the front bumper’s aero lip. Other differences include a slightly revised set of 15-inch alloy wheels, wraparound LED tail lamps, and a tailgate that curves upwards.

It also takes a variety of equipment from the Grand i10 Nios like the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 5.3-inch driver information display in the instrument cluster as well as wireless charging. Other nifty equipment in the Aura include an Arkamys sound system with Hyundai iblue app connectivity, rearview camera, and eco coating for the AC.

Under the hood, three BS6 compliant engines power the Aura. The diesel option is a 1.2-litre Ecotorq turbo engine that produces 75PS and 190Nm. The first of the petrol engine options is a 1.2-litre MPI engine that delivers  83PS and 113Nm. The third and most powerful option is the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol mill that makes 100PS and 172Nm of torque. All engines will get a 5-speed manual gearbox, whereas the AMT option will be limited to the 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines.

The Aura will be sold alongside the Xcent, but expect it to fetch a premium over the Xcent’s price tag of Rs 5.81 lakh to Rs 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Once launched, it will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, and Tata Tigor.
