Hero Destini 125 Launch On October 22

Hero is set to launch its highly anticipated 125cc scooters, the Destini 125, on October 22. The scooter was initially showcased alongside the Maestro Edge 125 under the Duet 125 banner at the 2018 Auto Expo. Like the 110cc Duet, the Destini 125 will be offered as a family-friendly alternative to the more youth-centric Maestro in the 125cc segment. It is expected to be priced around Rs 54,000 (ex-showroom).

Unlike its 110cc counterparts, the Destini 125 will get Hero's i3S start-stop technology. Currently, Hero MotoCorp is the only two-wheeler manufacturer in the country to offer this technology. The Destini 125 gets a conventional scooter design with silver accents on the front, side and rear along with a dual-tone seat.

The feature list consists of a semi-digital instrument console with side stand indicator, service indicator and a pass switch. It also packs a mobile charging port, underseat boot light, external fuel filler cap and an LED tail light as well.

The Destiny 125 shares its powertrain with the upcoming Maestro Edge 125. The 124.6cc engine is mated to a CVT and churns out 8.7PS of power and 10.2Nm of torque. Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork at the front and a hydraulic shock absorber at the rear. Braking is taken care of via drum units on both ends.

When launched, the Destini 125 will compete with the Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access 125 and the TVS NTorq. Despite its competitive pricing, the Duet hasn't been able to cement its place in the cut-throat 110cc scooter segment. Can the re-badged version equipped with a larger motor change its fortunes? Let us know in the comments below.
