The Benelli Imperiale 400 is set to receive a massive price premium as it steps into the BS6 era. Through our sources we have come to know that Benelli India plans to launch the BS6 bike at a price of Rs 2.20 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The asking price is astonishingly high as you would now end up shelling close to Rs 40,000 more than before. The reasons cited for the high premium are the BS6 updates and high USD currency exchange rates.
Benelli had launched the Imperiale 400 at an introductory price of Rs 1,69,000 in October last year. Since then, it has seen one major price hike in February with the silver colour option retailing at Rs 1,79,500 and the other two colours (black and red) priced at 1,89,499. The new BS6 prices are sure to throw a spanner in the works for those who were planning on buying the bike. The BS6 bikes will be hitting the dealerships across the country a month after the country-wide lockdown has been lifted.
Despite the 374cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor already being a fuel-injected unit, the BS6 emission updates to the engine are believed to be really expensive. We are still unsure whether there might be a change in output figures. In its BS4 guise, the engine producing 21PS and 29Nm. Even if there were to be losses, they would be marginal.
