V12 engine, rear-wheel drive and drop-dead gorgeous looks. What's not to like?

Aston Martin DB11

You know a car is ridiculously well made, when the manufacturer takes a full twelve years to come up with a replacement. The DB9 was a 'proper' Aston Martin in every sense of the word. Engine at the front, rear-wheel drive and a design that refused to age. Personally, I'm a massive admirer of the DB9, and I'm equally kicked about its successor.

The DB11 made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. While India isn't a big market for the British supercar manufacturer, it isn't something they would want to ignore either. Sources have confirmed that the DB11 coupe is on its way to India, and will be launched in October.

Aston Martin DB11 - Interior Highlights

The DB11 is the first vehicle to be launched under Aston Martin's 'Second Century' plan, that aims at pushing the envelope even further. In fact, the British automaker clearly says, "(the) DB11 is the most powerful, most efficient and most dynamically gifted DB model in Aston Martin's history," which gives you an idea of what we are on about here.

The exteriors build on the DB9, while maintaining the classic Aston proportions. The new grille takes centre stage up front that seamlessly blends into the new clamshell bonnet. The long hood has a lot of muscular character lines, which flow out onto the sides. The profile, with the long-nose, the low and sloping roofline and the super-short tail look heart-achingly pretty. The rear shows off the trademark boomerang-shaped LED taillights and a pair of twin exhausts that play a symphony. As they say, the devil is in the details. Elements such as the flush-fitting door handles, large vent on the front fenders and the detailing in the all-LED headlamps make the DB11 extra special.

Aston Martin DB11 - Interior

The interiors stay true to the DB series' history of being a grand tourer. So, there's the whole leather, brushed aluminium and wood trimming theme going on. The cabin follows a minimalist theme, and is loaded to the gills with tech. Goodies include a 12-inch LCD screen that acts as the instrument cluster and a separate 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. There's the usual rotary control for the audio and the navigation unit and the customary touchpad input recognition as well. Other goodies include auto-park assist (with a 360-degree birds-eye view camera) and an electrically powered steering column with the 'up and away' function that aids ingress and egress.

A brand new 5.2-litre, twin-turbo V12 engine powers the new DB11. In case you are a number geek, here's what you need to know. The monstrous engine pushes out a healthy 608PS of power and a towering 700Nm of torque. 0-100kmph takes just 3.9 seconds and top speed is rated at a mind-boggling 322kmph! Transmission duties are handled by an 8-speed, ZF automatic gearbox that channels power to the rear wheels. There are three drive modes to choose from, - GT, Sport and Sport Plus that Aston claims to 'progressively intensify the response of the engine'.

The luxo-supercar is being brought down for potential customers and will tour major cities. We've been told to expect a price that hovers around the Rs 4.5 crore mark; not including registration and insurance of course. Fancy one?
