Brixton Motorcycles is an Austrian brand which is particularly known for its scrambler, cafe racer and neo-retro roadster-style motorcycles. The Crossfire range is the brand’s first family of bikes that have been designed by the brand itself. It unveiled the Crossfire 500 at the 2019 EICMA show and now the bike has finally been launched in Europe. There are two versions: Crossfire 500 and Crossfire 500X. The former costs EUR 6,249 (around Rs 5.33 lakh), whereas the latter will set you back by EUR 6,549 (about Rs 5.58 lakh).

So what’s the difference between the two variants? Well, the standard model gets a contoured single-piece seat, tyre hugger with integrated license plate holder, and Pirelli Angel ST rubber; whereas the Crossfire 500 X comes with a bench seat, subframe-mounted fender with license plate holder and Pirelli MT60 dual-purpose rubber on both ends.

Powering the two bikes is a 486cc parallel twin liquid-cooled engine which churns out 47.5PS at 8500rpm. Sure, there’s potential to extract a lot more power from such a large capacity engine but it is likely that Brixton might have wanted to keep the motorcycle(s) A2-license friendly. The claimed top speed for both the bikes is 160kmph and they offer a claimed mileage of 25kmpl.
The two bikes use premium underpinnings like an inverted front fork, linked monoshock, disc brakes from both ends by J.Juan and dual-channel ABS. It also gets modern bits like a fully digital instrument cluster and an all-LED lighting system. Both the bikes tip the scales at 190kg.

The two motorcycles will hit European dealerships in August 2020. They seem to be the perfect alternative to the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401. Although the Husky 401 twins are single-cylinder offerings, they offer almost similar levels of power (43.5PS). The two Swedish bikes cost EUR 5,899 (about Rs 5.03 lakh), undercutting the Brixton twins by a fair extent.
