The Jaunty Plus is as pricey as the TVS iQube Electric

Delhi-based Amo Electric has launched its new e-scooter, the Jaunty Plus, in India. This is the new top-of-the-line model and first high-speed EV from this startup.

What's The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?

The Amo Jaunty Plus has been priced at Rs 1,10,460 (ex-showroom). This puts this e-scooter in the territory of the TVS iQube Electric, which is priced at Rs 1,12,027 (ex-showroom Delhi, inclusive of FAME-II subsidy). That said, it competes with the likes of Hero Electric Photon and Okinawa i-Praise+, priced at Rs 65,640 and Rs 99,708 (both ex-showroom Delhi).

 What's New?

The Amo Jaunty Plus uses a BLDC hub motor that produces 1.265kW of continuous power. This motor is paired with a 60V 40Ah Lithium-ion battery, capable of a claimed charge time of up to five hours on a home charger; and can be reduced to four hours with a fast charger. Amo Electric claims that the e-scooter can deliver a range of 120km.

 What's Unchanged?

The Amo Jaunty Plus shares its design and underpinnings with its low-speed sibling – the Jaunty. So, it gets the same LED headlight with DRLs, alloy wheels, and Honda Dio-inspired tail light. Even the suspension and braking setup has been carried over.

In terms of features, the Jaunty Plus flaunts a digital instrument cluster, a USB charging port, anti-theft system, CBS, DRL, and an engine kill switch. Unfortunately, smartphone connectivity is absent.

ZigSays

The Amo Jaunty Plus joins the league of plethora of new electric e-scooters that have been cropping up in the market. Though new EVs are certainly welcomed, it is hard to justify the Jaunty Plus’ Rs 1.10 lakh price tag, especially when it doesn’t get many tech-savvy features.
