2025 Kia Carens Clavis Explained In 10 Real-life Images

The much-awaited facelifted version of the Carens, termed as the Carens Clavis, is all set to be launched on May 23. Ahead of its launch, all its details have been revealed, and we can say that it is a more premium version of the Carens, which had started to feel slightly outdated.

Design: Carens In New Clothes? 

The Carens Clavis looks like a Carens that got a design makeover, while retaining the body style. New design elements make it look more appealing and modern at the same time. Up front, it boasts triangular 3-pod LED headlamps, a blanked-off grille - similar to the Syros, and a cleaner front bumper with chunky silver skid plates. 

The profile remains similar to the outgoing model, but comes with minor design tweaks to set it apart from the predecessor. It sits on larger 17-inch wheels that get a new design. The rear end has gotten sharper, featuring a new set of connected LED tail lights. Bits like silver skid plates, a shark fin antenna and a roof-mounted spoiler complete the MPV’s appearance. 

The Clavis is offered in eight monotone hues, which include a new paint option as well. The seven shades that have been carried forward include Pewter Olive, Imperial Blue, Glacier White Pearl, Clear White, Aurora Black Pearl, Gravity Grey, and Sparkling Silver. The new and eighth one is the Ivory Silver Gloss.

Interior And Features: A Big Step-up? 

The Clavis’ interior is the place to be in, as it now gets a more modern cabin featuring new displays and a new 2-spoke steering wheel. You are welcomed by a dual-tone navy and beige colour scheme and a nice combination of screens and physical buttons. The Clavis can either be opted for with a 6-seater configuration, or you can choose the 7-seater layout depending on your requirement. To get into the third row, you can electrically double fold the second row seats with the touch of a button. 

It gets a panoramic sunroof which elevates the cabin experience, and plenty of convenience and safety features that ensure that you travel in utmost comfort. 

The top features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electronic parking brake with auto hold, keyless entry, a wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, an 8-speaker Bose sound system and a 4-way powered driver seat. 

It comes equipped with level-2 ADAS features, 6 airbags as standard, TPMS, ESC, front and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera.

The Clavis gets the same engine options as the regular Carens, but there are some changes in the transmission department. The NA petrol is now offered only with the manual, while the turbo-petrol now also gets a 6-speed MT. 

Price And Rivals 

The Clavis is expected to be priced from Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom), and will hope to capture the MPV segment, taking away a few customers from popular MPVs like the Toyota Innova Crysta and the Maruti Ertiga (and Rumion) and its premium Nexa cousin, the XL6.

The Carens has been loved by the Indians and has been a hit for Kia, and the Clavis will hopefully follow in the footsteps of the former. Its premium packaging will attract customers who want a more plush experience, and the diverse powertrain options will ensure that there is something for everyone.
