Want The Kia Carens Clavis Diesel? Here Are 6 Features You’ll Have To Sacrifice!

The Kia Carens Clavis has been launched in multiple variants and powertrain options, but you do have to take the effort to research and find the variant and powertrain that best suits your needs and requirements. The Clavis can be had in both petrol and diesel options, but the diesel mill is not available with the top-spec HTX Plus trim and you end up missing out on 6 features if you still are keen on getting the diesel. 

Here are the 6 features you will have to let go of if you want the diesel engine which is a 1.5-litre diesel unit making 116 PS and 250 Nm.

Panoramic Sunroof

The panoramic sunroof is offered from the one-below-top HTX variant itself, but does not come with the diesel engine which gets the regular single-pane sunroof. While the panoramic unit is not a big miss as such, it surely elevates the premium feel of the cabin. 

Why is Kia not offering the panoramic sunroof with the diesel? When we asked Kia this question, they said that according to their research, diesel is not opted for as much as petrol and according to that, they have chosen not to offer the panoramic sunroof on the diesel.

Ventilated Front Seats

If you want the diesel engine, you will miss out on ventilated front seats which at the price point feels like a proper miss. If you want to cool off your back, then you might have to shell out some ₹₹ from your wallet!

Powered Driver Seat 

The Clavis is offered with a powered driver seat which can be electrically adjusted in 4 different ways. However, that is available only with the top-spec trim. So if you intend on getting the diesel, this is another premium feature which you might miss if you plan on driving the MPV yourself. 

Rain-sensing Wipers

A feature that has become common in modern cars, and reduces your effort during the rainy season. However, one should not consider this a big miss as it's not really a feature you cannot live without. Kia has kept this safety feature for the top-spec variant only. 

8-speaker Bose Sound System 

Now this is a feature which might prompt you to go with the petrol top-end. We Indians cannot live without our music, and a place where we probably listen to it the most might just be our car. This is why having a good music system is important, adding more satisfaction to your drives. If you buy the diesel Clavis, you get a lower-spec 6-speaker audio system. 

Level-2 ADAS 

Do you really need ADAS in India? Probably not. Is it something that’s good to have? Definitely yes, especially if you travel often on well-marked highways and have regular inter-city travels. ADAS features like auto emergency braking, lane keep assist, and lane departure warning definitely add a sense of safety to your drives. 

BONUS: A 6-seater Layout 

Not really a feature this time, but rather a seating layout. You miss out on a 6-seater configuration if you choose the Clavis diesel. The 6-seater layout consists of the captain seats while the 7-seater comes with a bench in the second row. The 6-seater setting allows easier access to the third row and also gives more space to the third row passengers to stretch their legs. 

The Clavis is priced from Rs 11.5 lakh to Rs 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom) where the diesel ranges from Rs 13.5 lakh to Rs 19.5 lakh. The diesel engine is a tried and tested unit and known for fuel efficiency which ranges up to 19.54 kmpl.  However, many buyers who were looking to opt for the diesel might have to go for the petrol due to the lack of features.
