VinFast is preparing to launch two more new EVs in the Indian market by 2026, and early indications suggest they may cater to very different buyers. The Minio Green is expected to be a small, three-door city car, while the Lac Hong 900LX is expected to be an exclusive ultra-luxury limited edition designed for the highest level of protection. In this article, we take a closer look at what these two EVs might bring if they do make it to our market.
The VinFast Minio Green is a 3-door compact city EV and could become one of the most affordable EVs in the country. The company had filed a design patent earlier this year, and from the pictures taken in Vietnam, it is evident that the car features a boxy profile with rounded edges. It is a small car with small 13-inch steel wheels finished in black, which helps it not to look very basic.

The Minio Green is expected to be a four-seater with a very minimal cabin layout and could get a black and blue interior theme along with features like a driver’s display, a powered driver’s seat, and a 2-speaker sound system.

Powering the Minio Green will be a 14.7kWh battery pack with a rear motor setup. This arrangement will deliver 27 PS and 65 Nm, with a claimed top speed of 80kmph. The car will also support 12kW AC charging and offer a range of 170 km on a single charge.

Once launched, the VinFast Minio Green will only have one direct rival in India- the MG Comet EV.
The VinFast Lac Hong 900 LX is an ultra-luxury SUV, crafted for high-profile clients. It is built on the brand’s large-platform architecture. The car gets a gold-plated Lac bird on the hood, a grille inspired by Đông Sơn bronze drums, and bamboo-style parallel grille bars. All gold elements used in the car are handcrafted.

On the inside, the Lac Hong 900 LX uses premium Golden Nanmu wood, hand-stitched Nappa leather, and 24k gold detailing. While we do not have the detailed list of features, we do know that the car gets a soundproof glass partition, separating the driver from the rear lounge, wide executive seats with heating, cooling, and memory functions, along with electric curtains and an intercom system for improved privacy.

Safety and Protection being the main highlights of the Lac Hong 900 LX, the car surely does not disappoint. The armoured variant comes with a VPAM VR7 ballistic certification, meaning it can withstand NATO Ball M80 rifle ammunition and DM51 grenades. The car additionally also features reinforced and fully-armoured bodywork, bullet-resistant glass, an armoured rear partition, run-flat tyres capable of driving up to 100 km after a puncture, a satellite phone, warning lights, sirens, an integrated fire suppression system, and an optional onboard oxygen supply, etc.

The Lac Hong 900 LX is expected to be powered by a 123kWh battery pack with a dual motor setup. This setup will deliver 408 PS in the standard variant and 461 PS in the armoured variant, with torque output remaining the same in both variants at 620 Nm. The car is expected to offer a maximum driving range of 595 km for the standard and nearly 450 km for the armoured variant.

If the VinFast Lac Hong 900 LX makes it to the Indian market, it will not have any direct rivals. Although considering the fact that it has received a VPAM VR7 ballistic certification, it places the car in the same category as the BMW 7 Series Protection and the Audi A8 L Security.
If the VinFast Minio Green and Lac Hong 900 LX do arrive in the Indian market as expected, they will be placed at two very different ends of the EV spectrum. The Minio Green will be an entry-level mini EV catering to small families, while the Lac Hong 900 LX will be exclusively available for people who require top-tier protection or heads of state. But with launch timelines, battery specifications, features, and pricing still uncertain, it’s best to treat these early details as hints rather than promises. As things stand, both of these EVs seem like interesting contenders.
