The much anticipated 5 door Mahindra Thar Roxx has finally been launched and its prices range from Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 20.49 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). It is available in six broad variants: MX1, MX3, AX3L, MX5, AX5L, and AX7L, and out of these variant lines, the MX5 variant comes off as a value-for-money option, as it offers a premium lighting setup, well equipped cabin, and a good feature list, along with both petrol and diesel engine options. Bookings for the 5 door Mahindra Thar Roxx will begin from October 3, and if you are planning to put your name down for the mid-spec MX5 variant, you can check it out here in these 10 detailed images.
The main highlights of the front fascia are the LED lighting elements. While the lower variants miss the C-shaped LED DRLs, the MX5 variant gets all the bells and whistles including the LED projector headlamps with the aforementioned LED DRLs, and LED fog lamps. The MX5 variant also gets a dual-tone bumper with silver coloured treatment down below.

On the side profile, the main talking point are the 18-inch alloy wheels, accentuating the hunkered up stance of the Thar Roxx. You can spot a large Thar Roxx badging on the front fenders and side footsteps. Noticeably, the rear door handles are situated vertically on the c-pillar, instead of the standard horizontal position..

The rear end of the Thar Roxx MX5 variant also gets LED taillamps, and is equipped with a defogger, and wiper with washer for the rear windscreen. There is a new spare wheel cover at the back giving the Thar Roxx a more premium appeal, and just like the front, the bumpers also get silver finishing.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx is offered with a dual-tone white and black interior theme and premium white coloured leatherette upholstery. The centre stage in the dashboard is taken by a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity for Android Auto and wired Apple CarPlay.

It gets an analog instrument cluster with a digital MID and steering mounted controls. While the 9-speaker premium Harman/Kardon sound system is limited to the higher trims, the MX5 variant gets a basic 6-speaker system. It also misses out on an automatic climate control unit, and gets a manual AC with rear AC vents. It gets a wireless phone charging along with 15W type-C charging port for rear passengers and 12 V power outlet.

Other comfort and convenience features include push button start/stop, 60:40 split functionality for the rear seats, a height adjustable driver seat, height adjustable front seat belts and cruise control. This variant misses out on ventilated front seats and a powered driver seat. It gets automatic headlamps and rain sensing wipers, auto-dimming IRVM, electrically adjustable ORVMs, footwell lighting and follow-me headlamps. Furthermore, the MX5 variant comes equipped with a single-pane sunroof option which increases its premium quotient,

Safety tech encompasses 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and electronic stability control (ESC) as standard across the trims. Additionally it gets a 3-point seat belt for all passengers, reverse camera with front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts and even hill hold and hill descent control. Additionally it gets a TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) and all-wheel disk brakes (petrol AT and diesel 4x4 variants only). In terms of safety, this variant misses out on a 360 degree camera setup and ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) features like lane-keep assist, emergency braking, blind spot detection and adaptive cruise control.

The MX5 variant of the Thar Roxx is available with two engine options: a 2-litre turbo petrol engine producing 177 PS and 380 Nm, and a 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 152 PS and 330 Nm. Both engines are offered with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Customers also get a four-wheel-drive option from this variant onwards which can be had in the diesel powertrain with a manual transmission option.

While the prices for the four-wheel-drive variants are yet to be announced, the MX5 variant ranges from Rs 16.49 lakh to Rs 18.49 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). The 4x4 variant is expected to command a premium over this price bracket. The Thar Roxx rivals other lifestyle off-road capable SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the Force Gurkha 5-door model.
