Good news for all the Honda Elevate owners and potential buyers, the made-in-India Elevate, exported to Japan and sold as WR-V, has been crash tested by the Japan New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP). The Honda SUV has impressed us all with a perfect 5-star safety rating. Here’s a detailed look at its JNCAP test results:

To get that perfect score, it is important to perform well in multiple tests, and that’s what Elevate has achieved. In the full frontal collision test, the SUV earned a perfect 5-star rating as it was crashed into the barrier at 50 kmph. In the new offset frontal collision test, the Elevate absorbed the impact well and kept the passenger compartment intact. The compact SUV secured 22.42 out of 24 points for protecting the passengers.
The test also found out the damage the car caused to another vehicle in the same crash. Called the partner vehicle protection, in this test, the Elevate got a penalty, disappointing us with -1.23 points out of 5.

In the side impact test, the Elevate got a Level-5 rating, while in the rear-end collision tests, both the driver and passenger seats received a Level 4 rating.

Honda offers ADAS features across all its cars in India, and the same ADAS tech was put to the test in the JNCAP test. The Honda Elevate secured a perfect Level 5 rating for the Autonomous Emergency braking test, where it succeeded against moving dummies like pedestrians, bicycles and cars at speeds of 20 kmph, 25 kmph, 30 kmph, 40 kmph, 45 kmph and a maximum of 60 kmph.
Among many other things, Honda cars in India have never been considered unsafe and offer the peace of mind that owners look for. With rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Toyota Hyryder not crash tested yet, the impressive safety score gives buyers a reason to pick it over the competitors. Additionally, nowadays, buyers are looking for safety scores before shortlisting a car, and some of those buyers might now start looking towards the Honda Elevate if they weren’t already.

Moreover, the ADAS tech that Honda offers has also been rated highly. Honda currently offers ADAS with all its cars in India, and the impressive rating of its ADAS suite might also prompt certain buyers to pick Honda cars for their ADAS tech.
Just like the India-spec model, the Japan-spec Honda Elevate comes with safety features like six airbags as standard, hill start assist, electronic stability control, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, lane watch camera and rear parking camera with sensors. Additionally, the Japan-spec model comes with front parking sensors, which the Indian version misses out on.
Furthermore, the Elevate is equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite with features such as lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking.

The Elevate is priced from Rs 11.91 lakh to Rs 16.73 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with the likes of Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Tata Curvv, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor and Volkswagen Taigun.
Would you pick the Honda Elevate over rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara that have not been tested yet? Let us know in the comments section.
