Hyundai Creta Vs Honda Elevate: Which Compact SUV Should You Pick?

SUVs are the demand in the market, and with the festive season going on, buyers are on the hunt for a value-for-money SUV that’s ideal for small to mid-sized families. The popular Hyundai Creta has gotten some upgrades, including a new top-spec variant and a few new amenities to increase its desirability quotient. On the other hand, the Honda Elevate also gets smarter now with some new design elements and new features to make it a more compelling option in the fierce compact SUV segment.

Price

Both Creta and Elevate belong to the same compact SUV segment, but if you look at the pricing, the Creta looks like it is half a segment above, with its prices crossing the Rs 20 lakh mark. So, with a premium of around Rs 4 lakh, let’s take a look at the extras that you get with the Hyundai SUV.

Dimensions

In terms of dimensions, there’s hardly anything separating the two. However, the Creta is negligibly longer, while the Elevate is slightly taller. The Elevate has a longer wheelbase, which could potentially lead to more space in the cabin. Overall, things are pretty much the same between these compact SUVs. 

Now, let’s move on to the section where the Creta is bound to perform better, mainly to justify its higher price tag!

Features

As you can see in the table above, the Creta is clearly the better-equipped SUV in terms of convenience and safety features. The Elevate comes with all the essentials and some feel-good features, but misses out on amenities that can be flexed in front of friends. 

Over the Elevate, the Creta gets features like a fully digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), powered driver and co-driver seats, memory function for the driver’s side seats, and ventilated seats. 

Do note that the Elevate gets multi-colour ambient lighting and a 360-degree camera, but you have to pay extra for both these features. 

Powertrain 

As seen in the table above, Hyundai offers the Creta with a plethora of engine options, including both petrol and diesel engines. On the other hand, Honda solely offers the tried-and-tested 1.5-litre NA petrol engine, which is known for its reliability and top-end performance. That being said, if you want to buy a quick SUV, the Creta turbo-petrol is your best bet. The Creta diesel can be picked if fuel efficiency is your priority. The Elevate’s petrol engine here is the jack of all trades.

Both Creta and Elevate are value-for-money SUVs for what they offer at their respective prices. The Elevate is for someone who wants a no-nonsense SUV that has the fundamentals on point and wants the reliability of a Japanese SUV. The Creta should be preferred if you want a more powerful turbo-petrol engine, or simply want to enjoy the more premium features.

That being said, the Creta is the most popular SUV in the market, and is an SUV you can’t go wrong with. On the flip side, its popularity makes it look too common on the roads. Here, the Elevate provides a more unique ownership experience. Both Creta and Elevate also come with dark editions, giving these SUVs a more dapper appearance.
