A posh looking maxi-scooter with enough features and performance on paper to thrill

Italian bikemaker Malaguti has announced the launch of the Madison 150 maxi-scooter in Thailand. Stunningly beautiful to look at and loaded with features, this 150cc scooter can leave the Yamaha Aerox 155 feeling a little (too) blue.

The design is unmistakably Italian, almost like a beefier Aprilia SXR 160. It gets that typical brawny front apron flanked by upswept, LED headlights (split unit), DRLs and turn indicators. As you move along to the side, the lines get sharper, further accentuating the scooter’s sportiness. The beautiful twin hexagonal taillights on the Madison will leave you catching a second look for sure.

The instrument cluster on the Madison is a nice-looking multi-colour LCD unit. The scooter features USB charging, keyless operation and anti-theft alarm too. The Madison, with its underbone chassis, features forward positioned, 10-litre fuel tank, which should low for ample underseat storage just like on the Aerox 155.

The maxi-scooter is powered by a 149.3cc, single-cylinder, liquid cooled engine and is suspended by a telescopic front fork, and twin rear shocks. Braking is managed by single discs at both ends and gets a combined braking system (CBS) for an extra layer of safety.

While official prices for the Madison 150 are still under wraps, Malaguti reportedly charges 79,800 Baht in Thailand (roughly Rs 1.76 lakh) for the maxi-scooter. While we do not expect to see the Madison 150 sold in India any time soon, you can have a look at the Yamaha Aerox 155 which costs Rs 1,38,800 (ex-showroom Delhi) and the bigger engined Keeway Vieste 300 that’s priced Rs 2,99,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
