Hero MotoCorp unveiled a custom bike based on the Hero Karizma XMR called the Centennial at the beginning of 2024. The manufacturer has produced 100 units of the bike and 75 of those were recently auctioned off to dealers, suppliers, business associates and employees of Hero MotoCorp, which raised a total amount of Rs 8.58 crore.
The custom bike has been developed as a tribute to Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal, the Founder and former Chairman of Hero MotoCorp. The highest bid in the auction went up to Rs 20.30 lakh. The proceeds from the auction will be donated to charities. The rest of the 25 bikes will be given away through various contests to employees and customers of Hero MotoCorp. Customers will have to share their photos and stories about Hero bikes and scooter with the manufacturer through e-mail. Then using artificial intelligence, a visual representation of the participant’s entries will be created. Now, based on those entries, participants will have to create and share videos on their social media handles. Hero MotoCorp’s panel will select a winning entry out of those and that person will get a chance to own the Centennial.
The Hero Centennial is based on the Karizma XMR and gets a carbon-fibre bikini fairing and a carbon fibre cover instead of the pillion seat. The LED headlight has been kept intact while the handlebar, handlebar mounts, triple clamps, and rear-set foot pegs are made of machined and anodised aluminium. The side panels have received the same treatment with that particular unit’s serial number on it.
The suspension setup consists of a 43mm inverted fork with adjustable damping and a fully-adjustable Wilbers gas-charged monoshock. Other changes include a lightweight aluminium swingarm, diamond-cut alloy wheels and a carbon fibre and titanium Akrapovic exhaust system. The 210cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder producing 25.5PS and 20.4Nm in the Karizma XMR has been left untouched. With all these changes, the Centennial weighs 5.5kg less than the Karizma XMR.
