Honda has launched the X-ADV scooter in India
Only scooter to be equipped with a DCT (Dual-clutch Transmission)
Priced at Rs 11.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Gurugram)
Honda has launched its most unique offering, the X-ADV scooter in India for Rs 11.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Gurugram). While the bookings for the X-ADV have begun, the deliveries will officially commence in June 2025. Unlike a traditional scooter, the Honda X-ADV 750 is meant for breaking the norms of what a scooter can be. Let’s have a look at what the scooter offers:
Let’s get straight to the point, the Honda X-ADV is powered by a massive 745cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine which makes 58.6PS and 69Nm, and is paired to a 6-speed DCT. The gearbox first made its debut with the VFR1200F years back (CBR250R’s big daddy) and has now found its way to other bikes, such as the Goldwing, the Africa Twin, and later to this scooter as well! The DCT allows two modes of operation - those who are feeling lazy can use the automatic mode whereas those who are a bit more controlling (literally) can simply change gears using the dedicated buttons on the left side of the handlebar.
Honda claims that the X-ADV has a top-speed of 168kmph and will return a mileage of 27.7kmpl which is quite good considering the big engine it gets.
Where most scooters are meant for riding on smooth tarmac, the Honda X-ADV breaks the norms and promises to go a step beyond that. The maxi-scooter has adventure bike DNA, which is evident through its design language. It gets a beefy yet sharp front-end with long-travel suspension (153.5mm suspension travel at the front and 150mm at the rear) at both ends. It also gets a purposeful 17-inch front and a 15-inch rear cross-spoked tubeless wheel fitted with block pattern tyres, dual disc brakes at the front and a single disc at the rear.
The scooter’s menacing looks also reflects in its kerb weight. At 237kg, it is no featherweight. The 820mm seat is reasonable enough for an ADV scooter, and the 13.2 litre fuel tank is also pretty generous for its segment. Even the 165mm ground clearance is pretty good.
What’s more, Honda hasn’t forgotten about the practicality aspect either as it gets a fairly large 22-litre underseat storage - enough for most use cases. In fact, Honda claims the boot space is large enough for a full-sized adventure helmet (the Activa will be so happy hearing the X-ADV is still humble and practical).
The X-ADV is not shy on features as well. It comes with a 5-inch TFT display which supports smartphone connectivity via Honda’s RoadSync mobile application. The scooter has all LED lighting, four riding modes: Standard, Sport, Rain and Gravel, a smartkey, an adjustable windscreen, and auto-cancelling indicators. Rider aids include switchable traction control, dual-channel ABS, and cruise control.
Honda has hit the bull’s eye when it comes to the X-ADV’s price in India. Traditional scooter enthusiasts may scoff at its hefty price tag but if you consider the only other premium scooter available in India, the BMW C 400 GT’s price tag of Rs 11.50 lakh, the X-ADV suddenly makes a lot of sense. Imagine the Kaneda coming alive from the Akira movie, but built specifically for Indian roads! That’s exactly what the X-ADV is all about.
While there are no natural rivals to the X-ADV, you may go for traditional adventure bikes such as the Triumph Tiger 900, the BMW F 900 GS or even the Honda XL750 Transalp at the same price range.
