Tata Motors is all set to launch the updated Punch in India tomorrow, marking the micro-SUV’s first major facelift since its debut in 2021. The 2026 Punch brings a refreshed design, an updated cabin, new features and, most importantly, a more powerful turbo-petrol engine option. Ahead of its official launch on January 13, here’s a quick look at everything you need to know about the new Tata Punch.
The updated Tata Punch draws design inspiration from the Punch EV and the Altroz facelift, while retaining its familiar upright stance.
Up front, the facelifted Punch gets slimmer LED DRLs, a revised black grille and new LED headlamps housed in sharper enclosures. The bumper continues to feature heavy black cladding, giving the Punch its characteristic rugged look, along with a silver skid plate to complete the front-end updates.

From the side, changes are minimal, with new 16-inch alloy wheels being the most noticeable update. At the rear, the Punch now features connected LED tail lamps and a reworked bumper, adding a more modern touch to the overall design.

Tata has also refreshed the colour palette, and the Punch facelift will now be available in 6 colour options.
Inside, the overall dashboard layout remains largely unchanged, but Tata has introduced several key updates.

The facelifted Punch gets a new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, a touch-based climate control panel, new seats with grey and blue upholstery as well as a 7-inch digital driver’s display. The 10.25-inch infotainment system has also been updated with slimmer bezels.

The 2026 Punch adds several new features over the outgoing model, addressing areas buyers had been asking for.
It gets new equipment in the form of a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, 360 degree camera, auto-dimming IRVM and a blind-spot monitor. This is in addition to existing features such as a voice-assisted sunroof, wireless charger, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, auto headlamps and rain-sensing wipers.

Safety has also been improved, with six airbags now offered as standard across all variants, along with electronic stability control and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Tata has also simplified the variant lineup, reducing it to six trims: Smart, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Accomplished and Accomplished+ S.
One of the biggest updates on the Punch facelift is the introduction of a new turbo-petrol engine.
The Punch will now be offered with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine sourced from the Nexon, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. This joins the existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, available with manual and AMT gearbox options, and the petrol+CNG powertrain.

This update should significantly improve the Punch’s performance, especially on highways.

The outgoing Tata Punch is currently priced between Rs 5.50 lakh and Rs 9.30 lakh (ex-showroom). With the updates on offer, the facelifted Punch is expected to come at a slight premium, with prices likely to start from Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom).

Once launched, the Punch facelift will continue to rival the Hyundai Exter, Citroen C3, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite and Maruti Ignis.
The Punch facelift addresses some of the key gaps in the outgoing model, especially in terms of features and engine options. The addition of a turbo-petrol engine and more modern tech should make it an even stronger contender in the micro-SUV segment.
Whether it continues its strong sales momentum will depend largely on pricing, which will be revealed at launch.
