Now that Tata Motors has launched the new Punch facelift, we have finally got our hands on it, and there’s a lot to like! Amongst a comprehensive makeover, new interior, a more powerful engine option and a lot more features, it makes for a compelling package. But why should you consider one? Here are our top 5 reasons:
Perhaps the most important change in the facelift is the all-new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Nexon. But, while it still puts out a cool 120 PS and 170 Nm, the Punch is significantly lighter and smaller, making it even more fun to throw around and exploit the full potential of this turbo-petrol. Add to it the strong mid-range and the noticeable turbo-kick, and it makes for one really capable crossover.

Not that it needed one, but the new Punch has had a proper makeover and now features a sleeker exterior design with some new elements to bring it in line with other Tata cars like the Altroz and Nexon.

You now get to see a slimmer grille, new DRLs and a sculpted front bumper with vertically-stacked headlamps, along with the Safari-esque alloy wheels and a connected LED taillamp cluster giving it an angry, yet sophisticated look. It may be a small SUV, but it sure looks the part!

Tata Motors has, over the years, built up a strong reputation for making safe cars and the Punch facelift continues the legacy with a 5-star BNCAP safety rating. It now also gets 6 airbags as standard (an upgrade from just 2 in the outgoing version), along with a lot more tech like electronic stability control, hill hold assist, blind view monitor, 360-degree camera and front and rear parking sensors, all of which come together to ensure peace-of-mind whenever you’re out for a drive.

One of the biggest highlights of the Punch has always been a spacious and practical cabin, and we are glad to report that it stays true for the facelift as well. Even with tall and well-built passengers, the Punch’s cabin is a comfortable place to be in, and with good amounts of headroom and legroom, it becomes an ideal option even for longer trips, seating 4 adults happily.

With 6 variants, a new engine and even an AMT gearbox with the CNG fuel option, there is now a Punch for everyone! The wide range of variants, along with a well-spread feature list go a long way in making sure that you can get all you want without having to break the bank, which just goes one step further in making it more attractive.

The Punch has always been a record-setter for Tata Motors, and the carmaker does not want to relent. With all these changes, it just goes on to show Tata’s razor-sharp focus on conquering the market. Yes, it may not be perfect, but all these factors make sure that no buyer in this segment can ignore the Punch!
