If teaser campaigns and numerous leaks have not eased your anticipation, Mahindra has at last launched the 5-Door Thar Roxx, with prices starting from Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Full prices for the off-road SUV will be revealed tomorrow on August 15, 2024. And if you’re in the market for one, here’s our in-depth 360-degree look at the Thar Roxx in 12 images ahead of its price announcement tomorrow.
The Thar Roxx’s fascia resembles that of the Thar 3-door but features a new 6-slat body-coloured grille. Providing distinct design touches are the C-shaped LED DRLs and LED headlights. Additionally, it sports similar round fog lamps and a silver-finished bumper that enhance its tough demeanour.

The most obvious change in the profile is the addition of two doors with an elongated wheelbase. The door handles are mounted on the C-pillar and the radio antenna is positioned on the front fenders, unlike traditional placements.

It rides on dual-tone 19-inch alloy wheels featuring a distinct 10-spoke design that elevates its sporty appeal. It also gets disc brakes on all four wheels.

The rear-end remains similar with a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, now with a wheel cover. However, there are distinctively designed new LED tail lamps. Other than that, the story remains the same with a two-piece glass and metal boot.

Step inside, and you'll notice a premium feel that you might find lacking in the 3-door model. While the overall dashboard layout is similar, it now features soft-touch materials and a dual-tone black-beige cabin theme.

The centre console now houses an upgraded 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and the driver gets a digital display.

The 5-door Thar ROXX also gets leather seat upholstery in a beige shade. The second row features a bench setup that will comfortably accommodate three passengers. Also, adding to the comfort is the presence of a centre armrest and rear AC vents.

You also get either a single-pane or a panoramic sunroof, depending on the variant you choose.

The Thar Roxx comes equipped with features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, single-zone automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, a Harman / Kardon sound system, ventilated front seats and keyless entry with push button start.

Safety is taken care of with six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system and ADAS.
Underneath the hood, the Thar Roxx is powered by either a 162 PS/330 Nm 2-litre turbo-petrol engine or a 152 PS/330 Nm 2.2-litre diesel engine. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Mahindra is offering the Thar Roxx with both rear-wheel and four-wheel drivetrain options.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx starts from Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the full price list of the SUV will be revealed tomorrow. It rival the likes of the Force Gurkha and serve a larger alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
