2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Review: Close To Perfection?

In a world where carmakers are stretching themselves thin trying to cram every tech feature under the sun into compact hatchbacks, Tata seems to have remembered something crucial: comfort. The 2025 Altroz Facelift is not just about sharper looks or fancy screens, it’s a reminder that a car can still be super practical, space-conscious, and incredibly comfortable for the everyday user.
Open any of the doors, all four of which swing out to a full 90 degrees, and you’re greeted with a cabin that is built with intent. Getting in and out feels easy, even for elder members of the family or anyone who doesn’t do yoga every morning (me :p). Once inside, it's obvious that Tata’s engineers have spent some quality time rethinking storage.
From dual cupholders both at the front and rear, roomy door pockets that can actually hold bottles and more, a generously sized glovebox, and even seatback pockets that aren’t just decorative, there is space for all your on-the-go junk. And that is a good thing.
The Altroz has always offered one of the more premium backseat experiences in its segment, and this facelift builds on that rep. Average-sized adults will find the rear bench plush and supportive, with segment-best underthigh support that makes long hauls far less fatiguing. You also get rear AC vents and a fold-down central armrest, the kind of thoughtful touches usually reserved for pricier sedans.
That said, the comfort zone here is tuned for two. Three in the back will be a squeeze, especially since the middle occupant doesn’t get a headrest. And taller passengers might feel the scooped-out roofline closing in on their headspace. The seatback angle also could’ve done with a recline or two more for true lounge-like comfort.
In the petrol and diesel Tata Altroz, boot space stands at a respectable 345 litres, more than enough for weekend luggage, grocery runs, or a full-sized check-in bag and a backpack. The low loading lip makes packing and unpacking a hassle-free affair, and the wide opening means you won’t be playing Tetris with your suitcases.
Now, if you are considering the greener, cleaner Altroz iCNG, there is a small trade-off. Thanks to Tata’s smart twin-cylinder setup tucked under the boot floor, the iCNG variant still offers a usable 210 litres of space, significantly better than most CNG cars, where the cylinder eats up almost all the luggage room. So yes, you lose a bit of volume, but you don’t have to leave half your life behind just because you are running on CNG.
The 2025 Tata Altroz Facelift is not trying to be an SUV in disguise, nor is it pretending to be a luxury car. What it is, though, is a hatchback that nails the basics, comfort, space, and ride quality, with a finesse that’s rare at this price point. It’s ideal for small families, daily commuters, and road-trippers who value smart practicality over gimmicks.
If your checklist has ride comfort, backseat usability for four, and real-world practicality at the top, the Altroz delivers. Just remember to call shotgun early if you’re part of a group of five.
