2026 Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric Launch Confirmed! Bookings Open On…

There’s a certain dearth of luxury EVs in the Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom) price range, and to plug the same, Mercedes-Benz has now confirmed the launch of its all-new GLC Electric in India. 

Unlike the ICE-powered GLC we are all so familiar with, this eSUV will take a radical approach in its package, offering groundbreaking technology, unconventional styling and thrilling performance. Here are all the details:

2026 Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric: Exterior

While the standard ICE-powered GLC leans towards a classy and old-school idea of luxury SUVs, the GLC Electric goes in the opposite direction with a quirky design. Taking the centrepiece up front is a massive illuminated grille with chrome-studded detailing. The bumper features a curvy look to it, alongside sporty air vents and body-coloured inserts.

In profile, it gets a sloping roofline towards the back, reminding us of siblings like the EQE SUV. There are also flush-fit door handles, a chrome side step and up to 21-inch alloy wheels to add character.

The rear-end styling may feel a bit polarising, with the connected LED taillamp setup housed in a black encasement. It also has unique detailing, similar to what we’ve seen on the CLA Electric previously. The bumper takes a sportier theme here with a busy-looking silver diffuser, vertical air vents and gloss black inserts.

Inside, the 39.1-inch MBUX superscreen dominates every other element, spanning across nearly the entirety of the dashboard. However, there are still some touches worth discussing, such as the three-spoke steering wheel touch-based controls, aluminium inserts on the centre console and AC vents and faux wood trim for an old-school luxury feel.

Depending on the configuration, multiple cabin themes are offered globally, and there’s a massive panoramic glass roof too, which lets in a lot of light to make the cabin feel livelier.

A long equipment list is a standard feature for most Mercedes-Benz cars, and the GLC Electric is no different. The SUV comes equipped with the aforementioned MBUX superscreen comprising a 10.3-inch digital driver’s display, 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 14-inch passenger entertainment system. There are also dual wireless phone chargers, an AI assistant, a 4D Burmester sound system, powered and ventilated front seats and multi-colour ambient lighting.

For safety, the GLC Electric gets up to 11 airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, Level 2 ADAS, remote parking assist, electronic parking brake (EPB), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and more. It has been rated 5-stars in the Bharat NCAP crash tests. 

2026 Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric: Powertrain

The brand has confirmed that it will offer the eSUV in a single GLC 400 Electric 4MATIC variant, which is available with a single 94 kWh battery pack globally, delivering up to 715 km of claimed range. Here are its specifications:

In addition to these, the GLC Electric also features rear-wheel steering up to 4.5 degrees, 330 kW DC fast-charging capabilities and adaptive air suspension too.

2026 Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric: Expected Price, Launch Date & Rivals

Mercedes-Benz is likely to price the GLC Electric in the range of Rs 80 lakh to Rs 90 lakh (ex-showroom). The eSUV will be imported as a CKD (Completely Knocked-down kit) and assembled at the carmaker’s manufacturing facility in Pune, Maharashtra. 

Bookings for the SUV will open in October 2026, with a launch expected by the end of this year.

The GLC Electric will have only one direct rival in the upcoming BMW iX3, and will sit below the EQE SUV in Mercedes-Benz’ lineup.

Given the unconventional nature of the luxury EV segment, Mercedes-Benz wants to attack it with space-age technology in its cars. We saw this direction first with the CLA Electric, and now the GLC Electric will make its lineup even stronger. With the correct size, a long range and plenty of futuristic technology on offer, chances of it dominating its segment are high, especially given the dearth of options otherwise available.
