The Kawasaki Z900 has been the most aspirational big bike in India for quite some time now. The bike holds a special place in the hearts of enthusiasts not only because of its design but also the riding experience it offers. Kawasaki has now filed a design patent of the 2025 Z900 in India, which made its debut at the 2024 EICMA motor show held in Italy. The bike gets some major design changes over the 2024 model and a host of new features.

A New Z

The 2025 Kawasaki Z900 gets some major design changes over the previous model. The 2025 version now gets a projector headlight in the centre surrounded by dual-LED headlights, which have become sleeker than the previous iteration. Another major difference is the departure of the iconic Z-shaped LED taillight, which has been replaced by a W-shaped unit. The fuel tank, too, has been sculpted a bit differently than its predecessor. Though the overall silhouette of the motorcycle remains the same and is undoubtedly Kawasaki.

In terms of features, the 2025 Kawasaki Z900 also gets a new TFT display, which now has an inertial measurement unit (IMU) that allows cornering tractional control, cornering ABS, cruise control and four ride modes. The display also supports smartphone connectivity features such as call & SMS alerts, and turn-by-turn navigation.

It retains the same 948cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine but now complies with stringent emission norms. It now makes 124PS and 97.4Nm, which is 1PS and 1.2Nm less than the 2024 model. The bike now gets a quick-shifter as standard, which is enabled above 1,500rpm.

Kawasaki claims that they have made some changes to the chassis and the suspension setup, which increases the rigidity and keeps the bike more planted than before.

New Variant

The 2025 Z900 is now available in two variants: Standard and Performance. While the Standard variant gets the aforementioned features, the Performance variant gets better brakes and suspension in the form of Brembo brakes and Ohlins rear shock absorber as standard.

The Most Desireable Kawasaki

The Kawasaki Z900 is the highest-selling big-bike as well as the highest-selling Kawasaki motorcycle in India, with a sales figure of 747 units between April 24’ to January 25’. While the number might not look big on paper, when compared to its direct rival, the Triumph Street Triple 765, which has a sales figure of 296 units in India, the Kawasaki sells quite well.

We expect Kawasaki to start the new financial year with bang and could launch the 2025 Z900 in April itself! Although expect the 2025 version to command a premium over the outgoing version which is priced at Rs 9,38,000. The 2025 variant could be priced close to Rs 10 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). It would still be more affordable than the Triumph which costs Rs 10,17,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
