Kawasaki India has launched the 2025 Z900 in India, which is now Rs 14,000 more than the 2024 iteration at Rs 9,52,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). And for that it gets a whole bunch of updates.

For starters, the headlight design has been changed. It now gets a triple-pod headlight cluster. While the unit itself is more or less the same size, the pods have gotten smaller and sleeker. Gone is the iconic Z-shaped tail light unit, and in comes one that can be best described as W-shaped. Kawasaki has also slightly tweaked the mirror design. The fuel tank as well as the tank extensions have received a minor change; the latter look like proper side air-intakes. There have been minor changes to the contour of the seats, as well as the tail panels.

Kawasaki has revised the suspension tuning, which it claims will make the bike’s handling sportier. To that end, minor tweaks to the frame have also been made. To further the sporty character, the bike now gets Dunlop Sportmax Q5A tyres, which are claimed to be stickier and more fun around the corners. While the engine remains the same as before – 948cc inline-four, the performance has dropped to 124PS and 97.4Nm (down by 1PS and 1.2Nm), while the kerb weight has increased by 1kg to 213kg.

One of the biggest and the most welcome changes is the new 5-inch TFT console. It has two display modes that change the layout. Other features the 2025 Kawasaki Z900 has are a bidirectional quickshifter, cruise control, and IMU-based traction control, ABS, and wheelie control. There are four riding modes as well - Sport, Road, Rain, and Rider; which change the traction control level and engine power.

The Z900 always had a good price-to-performance quotient. That said, while the performance drop may not sound favourable, it should have a negligible effect on everyday riding. Though what will improve the riding experience are its new features and rider aids. Earlier, the Z900 was relatively low on features, but now has pulled off a 180 – which makes it an all the more loveable big bike.

With the marginal price bump and the updates, Kawasaki has managed to make the bike cohesively more appealing. But if we had to nitpick, we wish Kawasaki had also brought in the Z900 Performance, which gets an Akrapovic exhaust system. Z900’s USP was its sweet-sounding inline four engine, and the aftermarket exhaust system would have just upped the appeal. That said, for the price, the Z900 is not a bike you can ignore in 2025, and is truly the one that all the Z aficionados deserve. It was already the best-selling superbike in India, and the updates could help Kawasaki rack up the numbers even more.
