2023 Tata Harrier And Safari Facelift Launch Tomorrow: 5 Things You Need To Know

Tata Motors is all geared up to launch the facelifted 2023 Harrier and Safari tomorrow. Both the SUVs were officially showcased earlier, and pre-launch bookings for both are now open. They get exterior tweaks, revised interiors, and new features. And if you're interested in either of the SUVs, here are the 5 key things you need to know about them ahead of its launch.

Design

Both the Harrier and Safari now feature updated grille and bumper designs, along with a new connected LED DRL setup. With this update, Tata has also managed to differentiate the Harrier and Safari’s styling, which we have detailed here. They also come with bigger, restyled 19-inch alloy wheels and respective model name badging on the front doors. At the rear, both models have a connected LED taillight with their own unique detailing for the lights and tweaked rear bumpers.

Interior

The updated interior features a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo. Also, the dashboard design is revised, looks sleeker and features touch-sensitive controls for HVAC controls. The choice of cabin themes and colour shades also varies on the selected Persona (trim).

Features

Several new features have been introduced in addition to their extensive list, such as a fully digital 10.25-inch driver's display, a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an additional knee airbag (bringing the total to 7 airbags), a powered tailgate with gesture-based opening, an updated JBL sound system, rear sunshades, and the inclusion of adaptive cruise control in their ADAS suite.

Features like wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, ventilated front and middle (only 6-seater Safari) row seats, powered driver’s seat with memory function, panoramic sunroof, and wireless phone charging are carried over as it is.

Powertrain

Tata has retained the 170PS 2-litre diesel engine from the outgoing SUVs, which is available with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Both models continue to be front-wheel-drive SUVs and the automatic models come with paddle shifters for a more involving drive experience.

Price And Competition

Both the 2023 Harrier and Safari are expected to be priced higher than their outgoing models, which were priced between Rs 15.19 lakh and Rs 24.26 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Harrier and Rs 15.84 lakh to Rs 25.21 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Safari. 

The Harrier will continue to compete with the MG Astor, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, Jeep Compass, and Mahindra XUV700 5-seater variants, while the Safari will continue to rival the MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar, and Mahindra XUV700 7-seater variants.
