Hero MotoCorp has been the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer for 24 years straight, and sold over 56 lakh units in the financial year (FY) 2024-25 in India. The manufacturer, in a recent earnings conference call revealed its upcoming plans, and here’s all you need to know about it:
With the recent rise in popularity in the electric two-wheeler segment, Hero has the Vida V2 range of electric scooters in its portfolio. While the Vida range lags behind in the EV game dominated by TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and the Ola S1 range, its growth in the recent months have been pretty promising by Hero’s standards. Hero sold a commendable 58,503 units of the Vida range of electric scooters in India in the last financial year (April 2024 to March 2025). That’s an impressive 195% growth compared to the previous financial year (April 2023 to March 2024). To support its growing sales, the manufacturer plans to launch two new and more affordable electric two-wheelers in India by July 2025.

The current Vida range starts from Rs 74,000 and goes up to Rs 1,15,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The base Vida variant is already pretty competitively priced, so it will be interesting to see how Hero will be able to undercut this pricing with the new scooters. One of the upcoming electric scooters, the Vida Z, was also spied testing a while back.
Hero plans to target rural areas this year for its EV lineup, and with Hero being a household name in such regions, it seems prudent that Hero wants to bring about a greater awareness of EVs to such audiences. The upcoming affordable EVs will also be able to capitalise on this even further.

Hero Motocorp handles all of Harley-Davidson’s India operations, and it has also made a few products together, such as the X400 and the Mavrick 440. The bikemaker sold a combined 13,963 units in the last FY. Hero has revealed that new variants, and a brand new motorcycle on the same platform as the X440 are on track.
We expect one of the new variants to likely be a scrambler as the X440’s engine characteristics are suitable for a motorcycle which is supposed to go down the road less travelled. As for the new motorcycle, it could either be a proper heritage-styled motorcycle or a cruiser (Nightster 440?). Hero had also trademarked a new name for one of its upcoming bikes in January 2024, the details of which can be found here. These bikes will help the brand compete with Royal Enfield’s dominance in the 350-450cc segment much better.

Apart from the aforementioned bikes and scooters, it’s also certain that the Karizma XMR 250 and the XPulse 421 are in the pipeline in the coming months. While the exact launch date for their launches are still under wraps, we expect the Karizma XMR 250 to be launched by the end of this year, and the XPulse 421 around the same time or early next year in India.
