Hero Vida Z Electric Scooter Spied: A Hero For The Family

The Hero Vida Z has been spied testing for the first time since it was showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. It debuted at the 2024 EICMA show in November of last year. It is based on the Vida V2 electric scooter but has a more family friendly approach overall. 

How’s It Different From The Vida V2?

The spied scooter gets a family-oriented design, a departure from the sporty and sharp looks of the Vida V2. The headlight and the taillight are the same, but the body panels have smoother lines, which will appeal to a wider range of audience. The rear-end looks proportionate, and we think it looks better than the Vida V2. The spied scooter has a new single-tone yellow shade and a long single-piece seat, which is different from the split-seat setup on the V2. 

Removable Batteries But Way More Convenient

The Hero Vida Z is expected to share the same underpinnings as the Vida V2, it will most likely get removable electric batteries. But unlike the recently launched Honda Activa e:, the batteries can be charged at home and also without being removed from the scooter. This not only makes the Vida range more practical but also more convenient than the Activa electric. With proper planning, one can manage with home charging, but they also have the option to rely on swapping batteries in case of a pinch. Swapping batteries also eliminates the downtime when compared to charging which takes considerably longer.

The Turning Point?

The family-oriented electric two-wheeler market is dominated by the TVS iQube and the Bajaj Chetak, both models having a sales figure of over 20,000 units in February 2025. The Ather Rizta comes in third place with 9,019 units, and the Vida V2 is fourth with 6,146 units. While Vida’s sales figures aren’t anywhere close to its rivals, Hero has been making steady progress, as the February 2025 sales were over 4 times higher than the same month in 2024. Ather already realised the importance of the family-oriented e-scooter segment, and hence came up with the Rizta. Now, it seems like a better-late-than-never move for Hero as it plans to offer family scooter buyers an appropriate product with the Vida Z. Its neutral design approach, along with the same convenience as the Vida V2, will help the brand occupy a bigger share of the e-scooter segment.

The Hero Vida Z is a promising scooter; it departs from the sporty design language of the V2 and embraces a more sought-after family-oriented approach. The Hero Vida V2 starts from Rs 96,000 and goes up to Rs 1,35,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). If Hero prices the Vida Z at around Rs 1 lakh, it will be a good choice for customers looking for a fuss-free, practical electric scooter that comes with the convenience of swappable batteries. Having removable batteries, along with multiple ways to charge them and a solid charging infrastructure, should help the Vida Z make a mark in the segment.
