Updated 2025 MG Windsor EV Can Power Small Appliances, Spotted With highlights

The MG Windsor EV has been spotted under heavy camouflage with a new Vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature put into use to power up small appliances. This feature isn’t on offer with the current MG Windsor EV.  Expected to launch later in May, the MG Windsor EV is likely to bring a better-packaged offering with a larger battery pack and more features to make its case further stronger in India. Here’s a quick look at its possible updates.

Features

The updated MG Windsor is confirmed to have Vehicle-to-load technology in its updated feature suite. Other than that, it can also have added features like a 4-way powered front seat for the co-driver and level-2 ADAS, which is unavailable in the current model.

Apart from these, the new Windsor will continue with its existing features like a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display supporting wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto, an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, tilt & telescopic steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers, wireless phone charger,  a fixed glass roof, cruise control, 256-colour ambient lighting and a 9-speaker Infinity audio system.

For comfort, you have ventilated front seats with 6-way power adjustment for the driver side, automatic climate control and 135-degree reclining rear seats.

The safety suite will also continue with 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill start and hill descent control, rear parking sensors, electronic parking brake with auto hold, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat mounts and a 360-degree camera.

Powertrain

The MG Windsor EV is sold in Indonesia as the Wuling Cloud EV. It gets a bigger battery pack, which is likely to be brought to the updated Windsor on our shores. The motor will remain the same and hence will put out the same output as the current model, and paired with the bigger battery, it will come with a higher claimed range.

Price And Rivals

The MG Windsor EV is currently priced between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 16 lakh if you’re buying the car outright. It becomes more affordable if you opt for the battery rental scheme, where you pay Rs 3.9 per kilometre for battery usage in addition to the vehicle's cost, which ranges from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). The new model will carry a premium over this. It will continue to rival the Mahindra XUV400 EV and Tata Nexon EV.

The MG Windsor EV with the bigger battery makes the car more practical for longer drives, something many EV buyers look for. Since Windsor is already the best-selling electric car in India, a longer range could attract more people who were unsure about it because of range concerns. What do you think about this update?
