Now gets more power along with other minor updates

It’s been three years since Orxa, a Bengaluru based EV start-up showcased the Mantis e-bike. At the time, the claimed performance, range and rather unusual design of the Mantis helped it garner some attention, but a lot has changed in the EV space since then. At IBW 2022 the Orxa Mantis resurfaced with a few updates and a new launch timeline, here’s what you can expect:

Well not much has changed on the Mantis since we first saw it in 2019 but the most significant change comes in the power output. The earlier iteration of the Mantis claimed 25kW of peak power, but at IBW ‘22 Orxa claims the Mantis will now make 28kW of peak power and 18kW of continuous power.  Its 140kmph top speed and claimed 0-100kmph acceleration time of sub eight seconds still stands.

Another critical change is its batteries. The early rendition holstered 9kWh removable battery packs but these are now fixed. Another update worth noting is that we now have claimed charging times. The Mantis is both fast and regular charging compatible. Using a 15amp socket you can charge the Mantis in five to five and half hours, whereas fast charging time is a claimed two and half hours. It is also claiming a 200km real world range in the city and 150km of range on the highway.

Initial launch timeline set by Orxa for the Mantis was mid-2020 which clearly didn’t happen as planned. New launch timeline for the e-bike has been set to June 2023 with test rides starting in Jan in a phase wise manner.
