In a bid to stand apart in the sea of EVs, MG has pushed the boundaries of performance. At the Sambhar Salt Lake in Rajasthan, the all-electric MG Cyberster achieved a 0-100 kmph time of just 3.2 seconds. This record, which has been verified by both the Asia Book of Records and the India Book of Records, marks a significant milestone for high-performance EVs.
At the expansive Sambhar Salt Lake in Rajasthan, the MG Cyberster set a new record of achieving 0-100 kmph in 3.2 seconds and behind the wheel was Mira Erda, an Indian Formula 4 racer.
It is powered by a 77 kWh battery pack paired with dual motors that deliver an impressive 510 PS of power and 725 Nm of torque to all four wheels. It has a WLTP-claimed range of 443 km.
The sportscar features a 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution, ensuring an optimal balance of ride and handling. allows it to propel from 0-100 kmph in just 3.2 seconds The vehicle’s dynamic performance is tuned by former Italian F1 engineer Marco Fainello.
Taking cues from the two-door MG B Roadster of the 1960s, the MG Cyberster features electric scissor doors and a “Kammback” silhouette that makes it both visually appealing and could improve the overall dynamics of the vehicle.
The front end is adorned with LED projector headlights complemented by LED DRLs and a prominent chrome MG logo. The sporty bumper incorporates a black lower grille and functional air vents. The 20-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, enhance its dynamic stance. At the rear, arrow-shaped LED tail lights and an inverted U-shaped light bar contribute to its futuristic appeal.
Like every MG car, the Cyberster offers a tech-forward cabin featuring a triple-screen dashboard layout. This includes dual screens for the driver's display and a central 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. An additional fourth screen dedicated to climate controls is positioned between the dashboard and the centre console.
The interior is equipped with sporty seats and a flat-bottom, multi-spoke steering wheel with integrated controls for audio and driver displays. Paddle shifters are provided to adjust regenerative braking modes, enhancing the driving experience.
While the exact pricing has not been disclosed, we expect it to be priced around Rs 75 lakh and with BaaS, it could be priced around Rs 50 lakh. The Cyberster will be sold exclusively through 'MG Select' dealerships, which are dedicated to the brand's premium offerings.
Pre-bookings for the MG Cyberster are now open, with the official launch expected in March 2025 and deliveries commencing in April 2025.
Currently, the MG Cyberster does not face direct competition in the Indian market. However, it positions itself as an all-electric alternative to traditional luxury convertibles like the BMW Z4.
The MG Cyberster is intended as a performance-oriented roadster and by setting this record, MG has made it clear how serious they are with the placement of the Cyberster in India.
