    Zigwheels | 11 months ago

The Hyundai Verna is available with three engine options: 1.4-litre petrol, 1.6-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel. The 1.4-litre petrol engine produces 100PS/132Nm, while the 1.6-litre petrol engine makes 123PS/151Nm. Power figures for the 1.6-litre diesel engine, on the other hand, stand at 128PS/260Nm. Both the 1.6-litre engines are offered with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox, while the 1.4-litre engine is offered only with the 6-speed manual gearbox. If your requiremnts are only for the city comutes then 1.4 liter petrol version would be a better pick other wise if you need more power, then you can opt 1.6 liter petrol version. and if your daily usage is more than around 50km then you may opt for 1.6 diesel version. Here are the ARAI-certified figures for fuel efficiency: 17.70kmpl (petrol-MT), 15.92kmpl (petrol-AT), 24.75kmpl (diesel-MT) and 21.02kmpl (diesel-AT). Diesel if you believe in the phrase pedal to the metal & great fuel efficiency. Petrol is good too but the diesel is so much superior in every aspect that , it usually overshadows the petrol variant in sales as well overall driving experience.

I am currently using a petrol variant.....it gives me a mileage of 15 kmpl in the city and almost 19 kmpl in the highway.....if u use cruise control in the highways, u could get a mileage worth higher.

Both ciaz and verna are just a thin sheet metal junk. if you want to survive even after an accident and your back with little damage... check some strong car... don't die just for mileage

  • Q. Is mileage of Honda City the same as to Verna petrol variant?

If you are buying Hyundai vehicle then think twice about service part. I am having Verna ( Nov. 2015 ) which is facing the same problem since last three years.I don't know why the workshop engineer are not in the position to check properly. Further whenever I asked about it they always reply " Company se Part nahi aaya she".I am really fed up.

  • Q. Which one is better AT or Manual and what difference it will make to mileage - Verna?
    Kesiraju
    Kesiraju | 10 months ago

Verna 2018 top end models are offered in 1.6 ltr petrol and diesel variants in automatic transmission . The AT version is best suited for city drives . It is totally effortless drive . Claimed mileage in diesel is about 24kmpl but in actual conditions you will get in averaged out in very ong drives to be 17-21kmpl. In city conditions may vary averaged out 10-13kmpl. The both manual and auto variants are offered with 6 speed transmission with Gear box . The longer you drive in gear position 5&6 with speeds above 60+ with no breaking may give higher specific fuel efficiency . Similarly petrol AT may give you max 15kmpl and normal city drive vary between 9-12 kmpl.

Both are equally good. AT gives you convenience during heavy traffic. Manual gives marginally better mileage. So choose AT if city driving is causing you strain. Else, go for manual.

  • Q. How is Verna 1.4 EX doing, What's overall review and mileage when compared with Ciaz petrol?
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 4 months ago

The latest generation Hyundai Verna has been provided with a sleek and aggressive design. If you compare Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz both the cars have been designed to admire. If the mileage is a concern the Hyundai Verna is offered in two engine options and two transmission types. Hyundai Verna is evolved into a classy package that drives well, packs in all the tech you need (and more) and priced reasonably as well. If you’re going to be driving solo most of the time or don’t really care about the folks at the rear - the Verna is a near no-brainer. On the other hand, the 2018 Ciaz facelift is an intelligent one. It wraps the Ciaz’ simple but proven package in a more emotive deal. What was once deemed a safe and predictable choice is now a car with some personality and one that makes a statement. The 1.4-litre diesel engine has a claimed mileage of 24.0 km(MT) whereas the 1.6-litre diesel engine provides 22.0 km(MT) and 22.0 km/l(AT). The 1.4-litre petrol motor has a claimed mileage of 19.1 km/l(MT) whereas the 1.6-litre petrol motor provides 17.0 km/l(MT) and 17.0 km/l(AT). On the other hand, the Maruti Ciaz is coupled with a mild-hybrid tech, the Ciaz petrol returns 21.56kmpl (MT) and 20.28kmpl (AT), while the 1.3-litre diesel engine has a mileage of 28.09kmpl. The 1.5-litre diesel, on the other hand, is rated at 26.82kmpl. Moreover, the selection of the car completely depends on one's choice and preference so do take the test drive of the cars in order to get a clear understanding of the performance and handling of the car.Click here for the comparison: https://www.zigwheels.com/compare-cars/hyundai-verna-vs-maruti-suzuki-ciaz

Great car but usually gets overshadowed by its more powerful siblings. It is a much better & sensible bet than the wafer thin Ciaz and its strictly average engine combos.

  • Q. When compared to Honda city, Maruti Suzuki Caiz and VW Vento( base varient) Which is suitable for 25 km drive daily and some time long distance ,need more rear seat space , more mileage and less maintenance and service cost - Verna?
    Kesiraju
    Kesiraju | 7 months ago

Hyundai Verna offers a combination of best of all worlds or features . It is a bit congested on rear space seating rest is ok 1) Choose Ciaz if best service + Mileage + rear space is only your option.the New facelift version of ciaz is a tough competitor to Verna in features. 2) Choose Honda City for rear space + reliability and ride comfort and off course mileage 3) Choose Vento for Comfort , smooth ride and Luxury feel lack .You may have service support issue unless. If you are in Very Urban areas .( If your travel is strictly less than 25 km per day then petrol variant is ok .Other wise choose diesel variant 1.5Idtek or 1.6ltr Crdi engines similarly 1.3 ktr ddis engines respectively for City , Verna or Ciaz )

Go for Verna 1.6 diesel or Suzuki ciaz. The only draw back on Verna would be according to your question is REAR SEAT SPACE. which is good in ciaz. Apart from that Hyundai verna is the better because, Its conformable to drive in high way and easy to manuer in city traffic, improved road grip and good road presence, improved and better braking, loads of features including ventilated seats and sun roof ( which is missing in ciaz) fun to drive, PEPPY, SMOOTH and well refined engine. :) HOPE IT HELPS.

As per your inputs you have chosen a C segment sedan. In C segment sedan *india* we have left with 3-4 options to choose Honda city, Toyota Yaris , Hyundai Verna and VW vento. However you may be owning this vehicle for Emotional value or Self fulfilling desire. On the same time you also prefer good specific fuel consumption ..In C segment sedan they give a fuel efficiency of 11 -13 kmpl max . Hence keeping a city ride all the vehicles are more or less in the same range absolutely.Hyundai Verna offers very good bundle of features in style, electronics, etc which are a combination better than City or Vento.Hence no issue it is a good buy always as you get best mix of all other sedans . However if you are very serious on Budget and features front i suggest in 3 types 1)Toyota Yaris where it has best class leading safety features from the base models. This fits your Budget . But in this segment City and Verna are almost equally sold in numbers but Honda leads with upper edge 2)You will get Maruti Suzuki Ciaz which has very good features , style and now has a face lift version two to be released. You may get older version ciaz at good discount now so please choose 3) You may Chose a compact SUV like Honda WRV petrol and Maruti vitara Brezza diesel which may cater to your specific fuel consumption issue also. So please always note with respect after sales service, cost of spares and high on reliability toyota is best . Then is Maruti Suzuki with good service back up. Honda is known for high reliability but spares are slightly costlier Hyundai has a very good network of after sales service and spares are slightly costler. I suggest to suit to your budget , service ,spares and sp fuel consumption aspects i suggest please go for a Maruti Suzuki Ciaz or Toyota Yaris.

For Sedan Petrols in that price range Mileage greater than 15 is not practical in city limits.. in long rides you can achieve that kind of mileage. My Current Car Honda city V-MT petrol (City rides: 12kmpl, long rides 18-20 kmpl) .. Had a verna Petrol previously. used to get just about 10kmpl in city rides.. but around 15-16 in long rides. May be Compact sedans can give you a better mileage.. or go for diesel models... Brother-in-Law got a S-Cross it is giving a mileage of around 24kmpl in long ride and around 18kmpl in short rides.

  • Q. Whats the real mileage of verna New model, comparing to ciaz, i am confused with both, which to buy, i am looking for car for 1500 km max/month. Or lesser.
    Shatajyoti
    Shatajyoti | 2 months ago

Ciaz is better in terms of fuel efficiency but mind you it is very lethargic and is a strictly average in terms of overall performance. Completely in contrast to usual marutis brilliant 1.2 K series engines. While Verna is very fluid, segment benchmark performance, good fuel efficiency and is a great highway cruiser. You"d certainly enjoy winding this engine to its limit. Verna makes much more sense than Ciaz.
