Depends on your daily commute. The 7 speed dsg automatic is the best. Initially there is a diesel engine sound then once it heats up it's a bullet. But there is engine sound. So test drive both and then decide

  • Q. I am interested in automatic ameo. does it comes in petrol & diesel both ? What is the on-road price for the base variant and Mileage.

Yes, The Volkswagen Ameo is fitted with either of two engines: a 1198cc, 3-cylinder, petrol engine and a 1498cc, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. Ameo delivers claimed mileage of 19 Kmpl and 22 Kmpl for petrol and diesel respectively. Although we have tested its petrol version. It’s nice and efficient in the real world. In our tests, we managed 13.92kmpl in the city. Depending on traffic in your city, you can look at getting anywhere between 13-15kmpl which is great for a petrol city runabout. On our highway run, it returned a happy 19.02kmpl. The base variants of petrol and diesel are Ameo 1.0 MPI Trendline and Ameo 1.5 TDI Trendline priced at Rs. 5.62 lakh and Rs. 6.65 lakh(Ex-showroom Price, Delhi). • Q. How is the AT diesel performance - Ameo?

It gets a 1498cc, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine mated to a quick-shifting 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The dual-clutch transmission fits the powerful nature of the diesel motor, if driven carefully it can also be more efficient than the manual transmission. The 7-speed DSG has butter-smooth shifts and its ability to change personas at the drop of a hat. Drive sedately, and the automatic transmission shifts up early aiding fuel-efficiency. Go throttle heavy or slot into Sports, and the gearbox holds the revs right up to the redline letting you exploit all of the 250Nm. Although, once you put your foot-down on the accelerator pedal, the engine does open up post 3000rpm and all the way to the red line. But, in result, you get a noisy cabin as the engine sound increases gradually. Thanks to a solid built chassis, balance and handling of the Ameo is sublime. Like other Volkswagen cars, the ride quality is on the stiffer side, but that is something that Volkswagen audience accept quite happily.

  • Q. Which car is better? Ameo petrol or baleno petrol?
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 8 months ago

Both the cars are good to buy and have their own forte. Ameo can be a great compact sedan to own if build quality, performance, features and value rank high on your priority list. The Ameo has a big, for some deal breaking, fault - the rear seats are the most cramped in its class. On the other hand, Baleno offers good space, efficiency and features but comes with a sub-par set of engines. Buy it for hassle-free Maruti ownership experience.

  • Q. Hi, planning to get Auto Gear for daily commute. My travel distance will be only 20km/day is it advisable to go in for Ameo TDI DSG (diesel) or Vento TSI DSG (petrol). My budget is 15l, I am already using Maruti Ciaz Smart Hydrid.

As the daily running is on the lower side, we'd recommend opting for the Volkswagen Vento 1.2 TSI Highline Plus AT variant. Volkswagen Vento automatic comes with a 1.2L TSI petrol engine that churns out 105PS of power and is coupled with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The engine returns a claimed mileage of 18.19 km/l. For more, we'd recommend taking a test drive of the car and get yourself acquainted with the performance and comfort of the car. Follow the link for New Car Showrooms.

Vento TSI DSG if you can afford or else Ameo TDI DSG if on tight budget. However pros on Vento TSI is - Less noise compared to diesel and a little more quicker in acceleration. Cons - Less torque (though you won't find much difference in reality unless overloaded) and Less Fuel efficiency (8-9 KMPL in moderate traffic conditions and also tend to drop down to 6 in Bumper to Bumper)
