Shortly after the first teaser, Honda has put out a second teaser and it’s shaken things up a bit for us. While we were expecting a CB300F-based ADV inferring from details of the first teaser, this recently released one showed a seat profile, which looks quite a lot like the Honda ADV160. Even the exhaust note in the teaser sounds exactly like the 160cc adventure scooter. And all the Vs in the teaser point towards the same too. Excited? We are too!
The Indonesian ADV 160 makes a solid 16.2PS and 14.7Nm from its 156.96cc liquid-cooled engine. That’ll also make the ADV 160 only the second liquid-cooled small capacity scooter in India after the Yamaha Aerox 155. Underpinnings include a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers from Showa. After its update, it also gets Honda’s smart key system, traction control system, a decently big 8.1-litre fuel tank and a massive larger 30-litre underseat storage area. Considering the first teaser hinted towards a single headlight setup (as opposed to aggressively designed twin LED headlight units in the Indonesian-spec ADV scooter), expect the India-spec scooter to have a few changes in the design.
If this is indeed the ADV 160, it’ll be Honda’s first exciting launch in more than two years (after the CB500X’s launch in 2021). So is Honda finally bringing back vehicles that will make us enthusiasts happy? That, only time will tell. What we can say though, is that if Honda does bring the ADV 160, India will finally have its first adventure scooter and we’re here for it. As for its price, don’t expect it to be a cheap proposition and we think it could be priced as high as Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
