The Skoda Kylaq is the first Czech sub-4m SUV in India, being offered in four broad variants namely Classic, Signature, Signature Plus and Prestige. We got our hands on the one-below-top Signature Plus variant, which retails from Rs 11.4 lakh to Rs 12.4 lakh (ex-showroom) depending on the transmission option you choose. Why not share its exterior and interior minute deets with our readers? So, in the next section, you have the Kylaq Signature Plus explained with our microscopic specs:
The Skoda Kylaq’s Signature Plus variant, positioned just below the top-spec Prestige trim, retains the same silhouette and exterior design as its higher-end sibling. Typical of Skoda's design language, it features the signature butterfly grille, complemented by LED DRLs placed above and beside it, giving the front a bull-like face.
For the first time in the Kylaq lineup, the LED headlights are positioned below the DRLs. The pixelated design of the LED DRLs further distinguishes this variant from the top-spec Prestige trim.
The Kylaq shown here comes in the elegant Candy White shade, with black bumpers and a silver skid plate providing a good contrast.
While the top-end Kylaq Prestige gets 17-inch alloy wheels, the Signature Plus features 16-inch silver alloy wheels, black roof rails, and a chrome strip on the door handles. A thick black body cladding runs along the car's profile, tapering over the wheel arches.
At the rear, the design is similar to the top-end Kylaq, featuring LED taillights connected by a black strip with ‘SKODA’ lettering. The black bumper with a silver skid plate mirrors the front fascia.
The cabin of the Skoda Kylaq Signature Plus sports dual-tone black and grey fabric seat upholstery, with fabric material on the door pads. The dashboard closely resembles the top-end variant, featuring chrome surrounds on the AC vents, a 2-spoke leatherette-wrapped steering wheel, and front and rear centre armrests.
In terms of features, the Signature Plus variant includes a 10.1-inch infotainment system, an 8-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, auto-foldable ORVMs, and connected car technology.
However, this variant misses out on a single-pane panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, and 6-way power-adjustable ventilated front seats, which are available in higher trims.
For safety, the Signature Plus includes standard equipment similar to the top-spec model, except for rain-sensing wipers and an anti-theft alarm. The Kylaq now also boasts of being one of the safest SUVs with a 5-star BNCAP safety rating. You can check the report in detail, here.
The engine options remain consistent across all trims of the Skoda Kylaq, with the Signature Plus powered by a 1-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine. This engine delivers 115 PS and 178 Nm of torque and is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
The Kylaq claims an impressive fuel efficiency of 19.65 kmpl with the manual transmission and 19.05 kmpl with the automatic.
The Skoda Kylaq is priced between Rs 7.89 lakh and Rs 14.4 lakh (ex-showroom). For the Signature Plus variant, you’ll need to spend Rs 11.4 lakh for the manual option or Rs 12.4 lakh for the automatic (both prices, ex-showroom).
The Skoda Kylaq competes in one of India’s most competitive segments, going up against rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV3XO, and the newly introduced Kia Syros.
With its well-rounded package, the Skoda Kylaq Signature Plus is a strong contender. However, you might also want to explore the Classic, Signature, or top-end Prestige variants, which we’ll be covering soon. What are your thoughts on this model? Let us know in the comments below!
