List includes alloy rims, knuckle guards, luggage rack and more

  • New aluminium alloys cost Rs 10,000 a pair.
  • Can be fitted on all Enfields, barring the Himalayan and the new 650s.
  • Alloys for the latter are currently under development.
  • Royal Enfield Alloys

Royal Enfield has been one of the few manufacturers who have been offering original factory accessories for a long time. While items like engine guards and bull bars have been in their accessory catalogue for a while now, we spotted new interesting bits like alloy rims, knuckle guards, luggage rack and headlight cover. Although they are currently not listed on the company’s official website, we paid a quick visit to a nearby Enfield dealership and found out these details.

The main highlight has to be the alloy rims. These are quite similar to the ones found on the Thunderbird 350X and the 500X, and thus have a 19/18-inch (front/rear) wheel size setup. This size setup is same on all Royal Enfield motorcycles, barring the Himalayan and the new 650s. By paying just Rs 10,000 (plus another Rs 500 for fitting charges), there is no further need for Royal Enfield buyers to insert tubes for using tubeless tyres.

And given the 18-inch rear wheel, it should not be hard for Enfield to modify the rim to suit the Interceptor or for that matter, the Continental GT 650. Slight modifications will be necessitated so as to fit the driving hub as well as the rear disc. A new front rim will have to be designed though. Expect prices for these to be similar or just a shade more than the Classic’s alloy wheels.

Other interesting bits we spotted on our store visit included knuckle guards, luggage rack and a headlight cover. The on-display bike was a Classic 500 which was kitted with these accessories, but we are sure that it could be fitted on to the Bullet bikes as well. On a side note, the knuckle guards do not have an inner brace member and that is a bit of a downer. Expect to see these fitted on to the upcoming Trials bikes as well. Until then, here’s what each of these parts cost:

    • Knuckle guard - Rs 2,200
    • Luggage rack - Rs 2,500
    • Headlight cover - Rs 1,200

All of the parts come with a standard two years warranty from Royal Enfield itself. More such accessories are on the way. Stay tuned for further updates.
