More known as GODS, the Group Of Delhi Superbikers hosted the first ever Rendezvous with Superbikes event where the whole group of over 60 superbikers came together to celebrate 100 years of Delhi. Headed by Dr. Arun Thareja, GODS consists of a number of Hayabusas, Yamaha R1’s, a Suzuki GSX R and the newly launched Hyosung GT 650R. The 20 kilometer stretch from Khan Market to the Doubletree by Hilton was covered by the whole group via the DND flyway.

When asked about Illegal bikes and bikers posing a problem for GODS, Dr. Thareja replied, “Due to the checks on bikes being imported from other countries, there has been not a single illegal import in the country for two years now. Earlier, we did have problems, but with all participants of GODS having their paperwork in place, it was never an issue.”

While the impression of superbikes in the city has a lot to do with illegal street races, GODS has kept the sanctity of superbiking in India through its thumb rule of safe superbiking. And through its Drive Don’t Die Campaign, they plan to develop the safety of the rider on a two wheeler irrespective of being on a Superbike or not. Annika Talwar of The Only Network said, “Rendezvous with Superbikes is an opportunity for bikers across the capital to meet, network and share their passion over a laid back Sunday afternoon. In addition, The Only Network is proud to be associated with the Drive Don’t Die Campaign and hopefully through events such as this, we will succeed in ensuring better and safer riding on the city’s streets. This is the first time such an event has come together and I am confident that it shall become a regular in Delhi’s calendar of events with enthusiasts to look forward to something.”
