After much anticipation, Ola has finally launched its e-scooter in India. The indigenous EV is offered in two variants, S1 and S1 Pro, and ten colours. So, if you are smitten by the Ola EV, here are five things you must know about it.
Minimalist Design

While a sporty and muscular bodywork makes a scooter look good, a minimalist and neat design takes things a long way. And the Ola S1 and the S1 Pro have taken the same approach. The e-scooters get clean and flowing body panels with the LED illuminations, footpegs and the side-stand neatly integrated into it.
Power And Range

The Ola S1 uses a 5.5kW motor, which has peak power of 8.5kW and 58Nm of torque after reductions. The claimed top speed for the base variant is 90kmph and the top-spec model can do 115kmph. While the S1 claims to do a 0-60kmph run in 7 seconds, the S1 Pro claims to cut it down to 5 seconds.
With a 2.98kWh battery, the maximum range for the S1 is limited to 121km whereas the S1 Pro claims to clock 181km, thanks to its larger 3.97kWh unit.
Feature Loaded!

Ola has equipped the e-scooters with a boat-load of features. You get three riding modes: normal, sports and hyper (only for the S1 Pro). Moreover, it also offers proximity lock/unlock, hill hold, cruise control, anti-theft alarm, limp mode, reverse mode, find my scooter, OTA updates, voice assistant and smartphone connectivity giving you access to phone calls, navigation as well as service appointment booking via the app. All these can be accessed on the 7-inch TFT screen of the Ola e-scooter. However, the S1 skips the hill hold, cruise control and voice assistant.
Underpinnings And Storage

Both the S1 and S1 Pro use a tubular frame suspended on a single fork up front and a mono-shock at the rear. Meanwhile, the braking hardware comprises a 220mm front and a 180mm rear disc. CBS comes standard for both variants. Rolling on 12-inch wheels, the Ola e-scooters get chunky 110/70 tyres at both ends.
Ola claims to offer a 36-litre underseat storage for its electric two-wheeler. For instance, the Ather 450X gets a 22-litre underseat storage unit whereas Simple Energy recently revealed the Simple One to offer 30 litres for the same.
Price And Colours

Ola has priced the S1 at Rs 99,999 and the S1 Pro at Rs 1,29,999 (both ex-showroom Bengaluru, including Fame 2 subsidy). However, the prices can go even lower with the state subsidies. The Ola S1 is available in 5 colours and the S1 Pro is offered in 10 colours.
