New Maruti Suzuki Dzire: How Fuel Efficient Is It highlights

The new Maruti Dzire was recently unveiled with the sub-4m sedan sporting a generational makeover in design along with an updated feature set inside. Besides, it is now powered by the new Swift-sourced 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, with an additional option of a CNG powertrain. 

So in this story, we’ll take a look at its engine specifications and provide you a detailed overview of the claimed fuel efficiency in the new Dzire:

Earlier this year, we saw an update with the Swift hatchback that introduced a downsized 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, replacing the four-cylinder unit in the outgoing model. The new Dzire has followed suit with the same engine specifications and transmission choices. That said, the sub-4m sedan also shares a similar output to its hatchback sibling. So, does that mean it can deliver equivalent fuel economy as well?

As seen in the table above, the new Maruti Dzire gets both manual and automatic transmission choices with the petrol only engine while the optional hybrid petrol with CNG powertrain is limited to a 5-speed manual only. From the claimed figures we see above, it's quite impressive if the same economy translates in the real world.

While we haven’t tested the real-world mileage of the Dzire yet, we have put the Swift to test, which returned 15.84 kmpl in the city and 22.13 kmpl on the highway. We’re just mentioning those figures to put things into context as to what you can expect from the Dzire in the real-world, given that both the cars share the same powertrains. But the figures won’t be identical, so stay tuned for the real-world figures for the Dzire once we get to test it.
