Maruti has launched the new, much-awaited AMT powertrain options for the Baleno, Swift and Dzire S-CNG. With growing demand for CNG-powered vehicles, it only makes sense to provide more options in the CNG space, and the added convenience of an automatic helps with driving in traffic and keeps running costs low. This new powertrain option is available only for cars which are powered by Maruti’s new Z12E 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine.

The Baleno S-CNG AMT is available from Rs 8.32 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.

The recently facelifted Baleno S-CNG now gets the added flexibility of AMT, which adds extra convenience of driving over the manual gearbox variants.

The Swift S-CNG with AMT is available from Rs 7.92 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.

The compact hatchback just got sweeter with a CNG AMT option, which can make it a favourite among first car buyers.

In the age of rising fuel costs, lower fuel economy and fuel uncertainties, relying on alternative fuels like CNG makes great sense. They prove to be helpful to your wallet and be greener to the environment. While they produce less power, you always have the option to switch to petrol mode and execute highway overtakes.

While the addition of AMT to these cars is commendable, we wish they had given underbody CNG tanks, as they have in the Brezza and Victoris. Until then, CNG cars will always have to compromise boot space.
