From September 22, 2025, the government’s GST 2.0 structure lowered the tax slab for several small cars under 4 metres and smaller engines. So, carmakers responded immediately, announcing revised prices for their popular models and passing the benefits on to the buyers. For sedans, this meant the sticker prices dropped drastically, in some cases by over a lakh rupees, just in time for the festive season. Here are the top 5 sedans that got a massive price drop!
The Honda Amaze receives the highest benefits of GST 2.0. As Honda’s sub-4-metre sedan, the Amaze has always been positioned as a compact, city-friendly option. With the new tax rates, Honda has passed on the full benefit to customers, slashing prices by as much as Rs 1.2 lakh on certain trims.

For instance, the top-end ZX CVT, previously priced at around Rs 11.20 lakh (ex-showroom), now comes in at about Rs 10 lakh. Even manual trims have seen cuts in the Rs 70,000–85,000 range. This effectively brings the Amaze’s price bracket down to roughly Rs 7.41 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. For buyers, that means a more attainable entry point into Honda ownership, with the added appeal of Honda’s refined petrol engines and a segment-best CVT option.
India’s best-selling sedan, the Maruti Dzire, also benefits handsomely from GST 2.0. The Dzire was already a favourite for families and fleet operators thanks to its efficiency and low running costs, and now it’s cheaper by up to Rs 88,000.

The Tata Tigor is a stylish and affordable subcompact sedan, which is even more tempting now. Tata has revised the entire range, offering reductions of up to Rs 81,000.

Take the XZ variant, for instance: it was earlier priced at Rs 7.40 lakh and now costs about Rs 6.77 lakh. Across the board, prices have dropped by Rs 51,000–81,000, bringing the Tigor’s entry price to about Rs 5.49 lakh. For a car that already punched above its weight in terms of design, features and safety, the GST cut makes the Tigor an even stronger case for first-time sedan buyers.

Hyundai’s Aura has been a steady seller in the subcompact sedan segment, appealing to buyers who want a practical boot without stepping up to a compact sedan. Under GST 2.0, the prices of the Aura have been slashed by up to Rs 76,000.

The base E variant has come down from Rs 6.54 lakh to Rs 5.98 lakh, while higher trims also see sizeable savings. Post-revision, the Aura’s price range now sits between Rs 5.98 lakh and Rs 8.42 lakh. Buyers still get Hyundai’s trademark features and refinement and are now at a noticeably lower entry point. If you’re a budget-conscious family looking for a no-nonsense car with a dash of modern features, the Aura just became an even more tempting option thanks to its new price tag.

While GST 2.0 benefits are most dramatic in the sub-4 metre space, larger sedans like the Volkswagen Virtus haven’t been left out. The Virtus has received price cuts ranging between ₹38,000 and ₹60,000 depending on the variant.

For instance, the Comfortline 1.0 TSI MT, earlier around ₹11.56 lakh, is now down to about ₹11.16 lakh, while higher trims with the 1.5 TSI engine also enjoy reductions. The Virtus’ new price range begins at about ₹11.16 lakh. With its solid German build, premium interiors, and fun-to-drive dynamics, the Virtus was already one of the most driver-focused sedans in its class. The GST cuts only make the entry price that much more approachable for enthusiasts who want a sedan with real character.

GST 2.0 has given sedans a much-needed price reset. The Amaze and Dzire receives the highest cuts, making both ideal for value-hunters. Both Tigor and Aura strengthen their position as budget-friendly, feature-packed options. And for a premium experience, the Virtus feels like an even smarter buy thanks to lower entry pricing.
For years, sedans have been losing ground to SUVs, but GST 2.0 has tilted the scales back in their favour. With lower prices and stronger value propositions, 2025 could be the start of a quiet sedan comeback in India.
