With 5-star safety ratings in both Global and Bharat NCAPs, Maruti has proved a point, shutting down all the criticism and trolls!

Victoris vs Dzire

Remember that skinny kid in school who everyone teased for being weak? Then one day, he disappeared, hit the gym, and came back ripped, strong, and unrecognizable. That’s exactly the transformation Maruti cars have gone through in recent years. From being labelled as “tincan” on social media, to literally proving their mettle with stronger new cars, Maruti has once again given the buyer what they want.

Let’s take a close look at both the Maruti cars that contributed towards changing Maruti’s brand image, and also discuss whose impact was the bigger one…

A New Era Of Safety

The new-generation Maruti Dzire not only brought some exciting features, but also was the first Maruti Suzuki car to score a 5-star rating in Bharat NCAP, followed by a full score in the Global NCAP as well.

The recently launched Victoris was also awarded a 5-star rating by the Global NCAP, making it the second new Maruti car to get full marks.

Both these cars have left their mark, helping Maruti change its brand image and mark a new era of safer cars.

The Dzire’s Impact

The Dzire is a household name, a car that has consistently ruled the compact sedan space for more than a decade. For such an established product, a 5-star Global NCAP rating does more than attract new buyers; it reassures safety in the entry-level segment and proves that safety does not necessarily have to come at a high cost.

With it being the first Maruti car to get a 5-star rating, it also helped existing Maruti buyers to have faith in newer Maruti platforms. For context, the Swift is also built on the same platform, and should receive a similar rating when tested by the Bharat NCAP.

The Dzire is also used by cab drivers, so the Dzire’s new safety rating also affects those who travel by cab. With the new Dzire, travellers will feel safer inside the cabin. With the Dzire being ther first Maruti to get a 5-star rating, it made a clear statmennt that Maruti too can make safe cars.

The Victoris’ Impact!

The Victoris, Maruti’s latest SUV, entered the market with plenty of buzz. Positioned between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara, it had to prove its worth in an already crowded compact SUV space. The 5-star safety rating came at the perfect time, helping Maruti position the Victoris as a premium yet trustworthy family SUV.

For new buyers exploring beyond Maruti’s traditional strengths, this rating gave confidence that the brand could stand shoulder to shoulder with 5-star rated cars like the VW Taigun, and Tata Curvv. It also gives the Victoris an edge over popular rivals like the Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos, who have not been tested by any crash test agency. In short, for a brand-new model, the 5-star tag acted as a credibility booster and a strong reason to shortlist the Victoris over its competitors. Those who were not choosing the Grand Vitara in the compact SUV space, due to its unknown safety, can now go with the Victoris.

Dzire Vs Victoris: The Bigger Impact?

While the Victoris gained instant credibility in a new segment, the Dzire’s 5-star safety rating arguably did more for Maruti’s overall reputation. Why? Because the Dzire is a volume car. It sells in huge numbers month after month, and when such a popular model carries the 5-star badge, it directly improves how the average Indian buyer views Maruti as a whole.

Furthermore, the Dzire was also the first ever to do it for Maruti, and the first impact is always the biggest one. The Victoris may win Maruti new-age, safety-conscious SUV buyers, but the Dzire ensures that Maruti’s mass-market base feels validated and secure.

Yes, achieving something for the first time is huge, but the question arises: can a brand repeat the success once again? That is where the Victoris comes in, reassuring buyers that Maruti as a brand has started to take safety more seriously.

ZigSays…

Looking at the bigger picture, the key highlight is how both these cars together have created an impact and convinced buyers to look at Maruti from a different perspective.

The arrival of two 5-star Maruti cars is not just a milestone; it’s a statement that India’s biggest carmaker has finally embraced safety as a priority. If the Victoris brings freshness and global appeal, the Dzire amplifies confidence in Maruti’s bread-and-butter lineup.

The Dzire’s rating might have done more to reshape brand image across the masses, but the Victoris ensures Maruti remains relevant among aspirational SUV buyers. And for India’s number one carmaker, this combination could not have come at a better time.
