The Skoda Kylaq has entered a segment filled with numerous rivals, including the segment veteran, Kia Sonet. While the Czech sub-compact SUV offers an impressive range of features, there are still areas where it falls short compared to some rivals. In this article, we take a closer look at the features that the Kia Sonet offers over the Kylaq. Let’s find out.
The Skoda Kylaq comes with a 10-inch infotainment system, which is marginally smaller than the 10.25-inch touchscreen in the Sonet. But while the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the Skoda is wireless, you’ll have to use a wire with the Kia Sonet.

However, the Sonet outshines its rival with a similarly sized 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, whereas the Kylaq offers just an 8-inch unit for the same.
The Kia Sonet provides a dedicated display for its air purifying system. The Kylaq, on the other hand, is equipped with an air purifier integrated into the AC control panel itself. Although this doesn’t make a significant difference, the additional display adds a slightly more premium feel with a readout of the air quality index.

The Kia Sonet features a 360-degree surround view camera for enhanced safety. In contrast, the Kylaq makes do with a rear-view camera only. This feature in the Sonet provides an extra layer of safety by eliminating blind spots from all angles, and is especially useful while parking in tight spaces.

The Kia Sonet includes both front and rear parking sensors, while the Skoda Kylaq is limited to rear sensors only. The additional front sensors offer better protection from scrapes and scratches in tight spaces or in bumper to bumper traffic.

The Kia Sonet is equipped with Level-1 ADAS features, whereas the same is completely missing from the Kylaq’s safety suite. This helps the Sonet run safer in the marked highways.

Barring these few features, the Skoda Kylaq is indeed a well-equipped sub-compact SUV in its own right and is here to pose a strong challenge to its competitors, including the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, and the Kia Sonet. It is set to be launched in full on December 4, after which we’ll see what extras the Kylaq brings on board.

Meanwhile, let us know in the comments your thoughts on this. Are these features a deal-breaker for you, or would you be happy to overlook them in favour of the Skoda SUV?
